John Laprise: (13:14) @Lianna I believe channels are created by people with admin privileges so send requests at the moment to Dev, Evin,or myself.
  John Laprise: (13:16) That's a slack thing
Lianna Galstyan: (13:16) This was more of a general question but thanks, John. Good to know.
Glenn McKnight-NARALO: (13:19) Question.   Do you expect much participation by the Atlarge community .  What is the interest in using the tool?
  John Laprise: (13:19) @Lianna I stand corrected
  Lianna Galstyan: (13:19) thanks, Dev
Glenn McKnight-NARALO: (13:20) Sometimes its  hard to teach old dogs  new tricks:)

Cheryl Langdon-Orr (@CLO3): (13:21) and hey I use SLACK all the time
Glenn McKnight-NARALO: (13:22) yes  Cheryl its a nice bobel
  Cheryl Langdon-Orr (@CLO3): (13:22) Yes the Export I know
Abdeldjalil Bachar Bong: (13:22) Hello i just signed-Up on Slack  to learn more about
Lianna Galstyan: (13:22) What about Learn platform? We could have a small presentation there.
Glenn McKnight-NARALO: (13:22) Question ,  Does  this address the  Atlarge Review  comment about  use of social media effectively?
  Cheryl Langdon-Orr (@CLO3): (13:22) Good idea @Lianna
Cheryl Langdon-Orr (@CLO3): (13:23) No @John she means an intro to Use of SLACK  Minimodule in Learn
Maureen Hilyard: (13:24) Lianna are you asking about how we can use this as a learning platform?
  Dev Anand Teelucksingh: (13:24)
Lianna Galstyan: (13:24) no, I meant to have an intro for its usage
Cheryl Langdon-Orr (@CLO3): (13:24) OK Lianna I understood you one way the rest "??"
Abdeldjalil Bachar Bong: (13:24) How using Slack can impact our social media presence like Twiiter ,Facebook ,Do we have a link between them
  Maureen Hilyard: (13:25) @Lianna - good idea
Glenn McKnight-NARALO: (13:25) I think you should just get your feet wet ,  just use it and it comes more natural in use.  Remember you can create threads  rather the onslaught of erronous information ie. happy birthdays, happy religious greetings,  etc  etc.   Sharing of information going to the various threads is a powerful tool
Cheryl Langdon-Orr (@CLO3): (13:25) only that we will have a channel and we can coordinate via that channel as far as I can see it is not SoMe per se
Maureen Hilyard: (13:27) Yes, ears are perked
Cheryl Langdon-Orr (@CLO3): (13:28) I have another meeting at the top of thehour  so apologies in advance for when I leave you
  Dev Anand Teelucksingh: (13:28) @Abdeldjalil - we have our Twitter At-Large posts go to #annoucements ;
Susannah Gray (SF Bay ISOC Chapter): (13:29) Does each RALO have a newsleter?
Dev Anand Teelucksingh: (13:29) but useful Slack messages can be retweeted by Staff - so in a way, we can use Slack to draft tweets
Susannah Gray (SF Bay ISOC Chapter): (13:29) *newsletter?
Evin Erdogdu: (13:29) Only APRALO and NARALO
  Glenn McKnight-NARALO: (13:29) 4 years  NARALO
Susannah Gray (SF Bay ISOC Chapter): (13:30) So since these newsletters are online  is there any point? Couldn't we just put links to each other's newsletters in our own newsletters?
Abdeldjalil Bachar Bong: (13:30) Thanks Dev for that Clarification , as iam newcomer with Slack i will go inside to learn A lot of
  Maureen Hilyard: (13:31) @Susannah - agree
Susannah Gray (SF Bay ISOC Chapter): (13:34) newsletters also online
Susannah Gray (SF Bay ISOC Chapter): (13:34) anyone can access
Glenn McKnight-NARALO: (13:35) Dev and I are working on a detailed presenation on its merits for the Dec 20 O and E call
Susannah Gray (SF Bay ISOC Chapter): (13:36) can you hear me
Ejikeme Egbuogu: (13:37) I think a newsletter and blog are both OK,  a newsletter is static but a blog ID more interactive but they both serve a purpose
Susannah Gray (SF Bay ISOC Chapter): (13:37) I was talking
  Cheryl Langdon-Orr (@CLO3): (13:37) no we didn't
John Laprise: (13:37) can't hear you susannah
Susannah Gray (SF Bay ISOC Chapter): (13:37) grrrr
John Laprise: (13:37) welcome to my world (earlier)
Susannah Gray (SF Bay ISOC Chapter): (13:37) OK please read out this: I support the need for global communication but I wanted to clarify that the NARLO newsletters are not closed content: they are available for all.
  John Laprise: (13:37) kk
  Cheryl Langdon-Orr (@CLO3): (13:37) Noted
Andrea Glandon: (13:38) Susannah, we can dial out to you if you would like
Susannah Gray (SF Bay ISOC Chapter): (13:38) no, no worries, I can just type here if necessary :)
Andrea Glandon: (13:38) Great, thank you!
Heidi Ullrich: (13:38) Please join the next Sub-committee on Outreach and Engagement on 20 Dec.
Susannah Gray (SF Bay ISOC Chapter): (13:39) thanks JL
  John Laprise: (13:39) yvw
Heidi Ullrich: (13:39) This will be a start to develop a strategy for all communications, including SM :)
Susannah Gray (SF Bay ISOC Chapter): (13:39) Yes, just recycle content: no need to reinvent the wheel.
Glenn McKnight-NARALO: (13:39) Again,  the NARALO is open to all but  the  stats  are very low . Newsletters  isn''t the silver bullet
Heidi Ullrich: (13:39) It is likeley that suite of communication tools is needed.
Susannah Gray (SF Bay ISOC Chapter): (13:40) agree Glenn.
Glenn McKnight-NARALO: (13:41) Newsletters tend to die a natural death in most organizations .  They start with lots of enthusism and it drops off  to nothing
Susannah Gray (SF Bay ISOC Chapter): (13:41) But neither is a plethora of communication methods. Need to streamline and centralise!
Dev Anand Teelucksingh: (13:43) Well a blog can be the way to do that - so the posting to the website can result in posts going out on social media, email and email newsletters automatically
Dev Anand Teelucksingh: (13:46) and to slack channels
Susannah Gray (SF Bay ISOC Chapter): (13:50) Agree Cheryl
Susannah Gray (SF Bay ISOC Chapter): (13:50) Younger generation do not read blogs
Susannah Gray (SF Bay ISOC Chapter): (13:50) *does
Heidi Ullrich: (13:51) Here is a site on communication in Japan and cultural aspects:
Susannah Gray (SF Bay ISOC Chapter): (13:51) ICANN is not very instagrammable :)
  Cheryl Langdon-Orr (@CLO3): (13:51) I don't eithe @Suzanna
  Cheryl Langdon-Orr (@CLO3): (13:51) sorry Susannah
Susannah Gray (SF Bay ISOC Chapter): (13:51) no worries - I answer to anything beginning with S.

Dev Anand Teelucksingh: (13:52) We do have an Instragram account
Lianna Galstyan: (13:52) For Kobe meeting we could also engage local peoplee to use SM in Japanese
Susannah Gray (SF Bay ISOC Chapter): (13:52) ICANN or at large insta?
Dev Anand Teelucksingh: (13:52) At-Large Instagram

Maureen Hilyard: (13:53) @Lianna - we can encourage people to use it in any language really..
Heidi Ullrich: (13:53) what about a contest of some sort?
