Review of the Agenda - DAT reviewed the agenda.

The agenda was approved.

Roll Call - NP conducted the Roll Call.

Review of the At-Large Social Media Strategy -

DAT: Previously it had been agreed that the Social Media Strategy is to have the ALAC-Announce messages to be immediately sent to At-Large FB page.

JMR: The wiki workspace...At-Large needs a Social Media strategy. We not only need technology, but also need a strategy. Information sent by Social Media should be different messages than that sent by email. We need At-Large ....social information, in-the-news we have the Internet that is in the news for people interested in internet issues. There are several different languages for Social Media.

DAT: To summarize, JMR is saying that broader issues related to internet governance and in different languages be included in a Social Media strategy. Participation...From my perspective, this is not only a technology issue. It requires a person to actually lead the process. It is communicating and responding to issues. It is not just dissemination of information. So, how could we  broaden the strategy to incorporate that - bringing in different content and have it in multiple languages, and to facilitate communication.

Bill Thanis - Asked whether content or how to implement a strategy was the focus of the discussion.

DAT: both

YA: Requested for the last question be repeated as well as the aim. Do we have a strategy?

DAT: There is a strategy. I outlined on why we need a strategy. We can then have outreach. Social Media has a large number of users. At the end of the first call, which was summarized in Prague, there was a strategy announced. Key point was that all ALAC-Announcements be sent to the At-Large FB page. Linked in was also seend to be the most highly used Social Media during an informal poll taken at the Dakar meeting. More content is also requested. The third point was to get people to participate as one of the benefits of Social Media is to get immediate feedback. However, how do you incorporate that into At-Large policy development?

YA: Thanks. I also agree with the strategy posted on the wiki.

DAT: Siva noted that machine translations will be ok for email, but not for policy documents.

Fouad Bajwa -

JMR: We need to interact with other people. People that make up At-Large - I'm talking about

Gordon Chillcott - One of the difficulties of getting participation, is that new people find it very difficult to get started. Use of Social Media might be one way to get them started if the information is presented in the correct way.

DAT: To have the information easily available.

Gordon Chillcott - This would enable new people to ask questions that they might not otherwise see.

YA: Use of Twitter, FB, etc. A one page document that they can share that has the Social Media.

4) How to implement the At-Large Social Media Strategy

DAT: Ideally, if we would like people to

JMR - Need to look at who we trying to target.

DAT: Encourage members of the TTF to put their suggestions on the wiki page of the strategy.

DAT: Regarding the implementation, esp. in terms of different languages, outreach, etc. This involves people to activate it. What about having people from each RALO being responsble for the Social Media in their regions. They could also do this in multiple languages. There would need to be a consolidated messages - so in EN and other langauges in one message.

Siva - There should be only one message. I would like to suggest, that we need a bit of professional translation. However, the remaining communiction can be machine translated. Do we have the time to manage the FB, Twitter, etc? Could we have an intern to manage the Social Media?

Fouad - Could we have the messages in multiple languages, on a wiki and then have one message in EN on FB that includes the link to the wiki.

Fouad = there are  various tools to help channel multiple souces of SM.... Posterious - it has the ability to take content sent to Posterious and post it to other sites.

AI: TTF Members are to test the three tools outlined in the SM strategy. They are to add their comments on each of these tools to the wiki page.

6) Re-org of the At-Large wiki

JMR - Some people that the At-Large wiki should be re-organized. We were looking at the GNSO wiki and were looking that we can re-organize it by subject.

DAT: Reorganization would include ways to bring information more readily to the top level.

FB: the wiki already has a significant amount of information. the challenge is to find that information. There needs to be some re-organization to the wiki, notihing major. We can use this re-organization as a means to include SM. We need to link this information across the SM channels. There might be a need to re-visit our membership and survey them re the immediate problems. We should be proactive as members of the TTF - every six months go back and see how the improvements have been implemented.

DAT: It is more about reorganing the information. We have the ability to do blog-posts. Having that information being circulated - could that also be used? Rather than just the Announce list.

DAT: Creating some wikis... to have At-Large use information be used more effectively. Re the WG portal,  as this page faces outward, perhaps this needs to be made more prevalent. So, lets open a wiki page, get suggestions, and then choose which we will try to implement.

7) Update on At-Large Website Redesign and LACRALO machine translation email issues

MA - We've concluded the interviews. There now needs to be an analysis and summary of the interviews. Then we can move forward.

DAT - Spoke with David C. Kent from IT is on the call. He was involved in the translation on the lists. Could you update us on what can be done to improve the translations?

1. Attachments - dropped in the translated versions.

Kent: That is a design point. The way it is now - reconstructing the design to send a reconstruct the exact email is quite a lot of work.

DAT: the other points:

2. Garbled messages -  DAT's ideas - to ask members of LACRALO what servers they use or email clients.

Kent - there are several variables here. There are email clients, operating system, variable texts, the way that their browser translates the text. Bottom line. There are a large number of variables.. Controlling for these is difficult. It is a research and resource intensive.

DAT: RSS -

Kent - Not sure.

5) Updating the At-Large Technology Workspace  -

DAT: Asked TTF members to post comments. Start small, but suggestions welcome.
