VANDA: (20:30) this third path I can support too. less complex
Olivier Crepin-Leblond: (20:30) Re: Armenian Diaspora - this is merely stating facts: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armenian_diaspora
VANDA: (20:31) @ olivier. I would like to hera from other ALS like Siranush
Olivier Crepin-Leblond: (20:32) I do not know why there was an interest in saying something in Point 1. Was this missed in the report?
Dev Anand Teelucksingh: (20:33) @Olivier, it looks like it was https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/proposal-armenian-script-root-zone-lgr-04jun15-en.pdf just from skimming the first few pages
Maureen Hilyard: (20:34) I like the idea of putting it to the IDN group - they are tasked with looking at these issues before it comes to the ALAC
Garth Graham: (20:34) The ALAC should remain open to suppoting comment, if it is requested to do so.
Maureen Hilyard: (20:35) @Garth - agree but perhaps through an independent group first rather than bringing to to the ALAC through what is a personal perspective and doesn't have any endorsement or otherwise from other ALSes in Armenia
VANDA: (20:36) @olivier - agree with this approach. need really to be careful...
VANDA: (20:40) @ olivier this make me worry
Ariel Liang: (20:42) ICG Public Comment: https://community.icann.org/x/LY1CAw
Olivier Crepin-Leblond: (20:47) In the event of an Operational Community reaching the decision to replace the IANA Functions Operator, they should discuss their decision with other Operational Communities prior to proceeding forward, seeking all ways to keep all of the IANA functions undertaken by a single IANA Functions Operator. A split resulting in IANA Functions being undertaken by more than one IANA Functions Operator would be likely to introduce instability. The ALAC therefore recommends that although no measures were introduced by the IANA Coordination Group to increase direct operational coordination between the Operational Communities, this should be promoted at Implementation Phase, with the aim to reduce the likelihood of a split in IANA Functions Operators. This direct operational coordination should take place as enhanced communication and continuous dialogue.
Eduardo Diaz: (20:49) agree with Alan
VANDA: (20:49) @eduardo +1
Eduardo Diaz: (20:49) The IANA function will keep doing whta is set to do independently of the Trademark
Leon Sanchez: (20:50) I will step away from the AC but will remain in the phone bridge
Gisella Gruber: (20:50) Cheryl has joined the call
Eduardo Diaz: (20:50) It is an issue that lawyers like to talk about
VANDA: (20:50) hi Cheryl...
Cheryl LangdonOrr: (20:51) finally here :-) :-) :-)
Cheryl LangdonOrr: (20:51) had to stay in the other CCWG. call to the end
VANDA: (20:52) sure.. agree. quite relevant discussions
Gisella Gruber: (20:52) Tijani Ben Jemaa sends his apology.
Cheryl LangdonOrr: (20:52) I have limited equipment to work with ATM so limited to one call at the time !
VANDA: (20:53) @alan - agree lets get Olivier states and we certainly will mostly agree.
Cheryl LangdonOrr: (20:55) happy to support that text OCL
Olivier Crepin-Leblond: (20:55) please comment on grammar ASAP
Glenn McKnight: (20:55) sounds logically
VANDA: (20:56) agree with the statement.
Avri Doria: (20:56) from left field: well put and it even includes the words enhanced cooperation. how could one not love it.
jimmy: (20:56) thats a point
Olivier Crepin-Leblond: (20:58) Confirmation: First Draft now under "First Draft" Section of the WIKI: https://community.icann.org/display/alacpolicydev/At-Large+IANA+Stewardship+Transition+Proposal+Workspace
Ariel Liang: (20:59) CCWG Accountability 2nd Draft Report: https://community.icann.org/x/a45CAw
Olivier Crepin-Leblond: (20:59) Glenn you have a tick mark & are at the topc of the queue - is your hand up too?
Glenn McKnight: (21:02) it was earlier it's ok
Glenn McKnight: (21:02) iit was a prviewoul topic
Glenn McKnight: (21:03) I was sidetracked emailing Heidi
VANDA: (21:03) I beleive there is different concepts realted to users and may be languages
Garth Graham: (21:04) ALSs are surogates for the individual Internet user, NOT civil society
Heidi Ullrich: (21:04) CS doc: https://community.icann.org/display/atlarge/At-Large+ICANN+Civil+Society+Engagement+in+Fiscal+Year+2016+Workspace
Heidi Ullrich: (21:05) comments welcome through 4 Sept.
Alberto Soto: (21:05) @Alan, civil society, we will discuss this issue in LACRALO
judith hellerstein: (21:05) I am not sure I would call us civil society. We are more individual users
VANDA: (21:05) @heidi. will do
Avri Doria: (21:07) ALSes do seem to ver very civil society-ish. as an individual, most people are part of civil society (we are all civil society when we are at home) and most of the ALSes themselves are non commercial
Heidi Ullrich: (21:07) Thanks, Vanda.
VANDA: (21:07) the languages may bring different views to civil society concept
Heidi Ullrich: (21:08) This is a summary of the document introduced during ICANN 54
Heidi Ullrich: (21:08) 53 that is
Garth Graham: (21:08) @Avri: to me civil society is a construct created by govt's and business for doing what they don't want to.
Ariel Liang: (21:09) At-Large Working Groups: https://community.icann.org/x/loIi
Heidi Ullrich: (21:09) @CLO, you noted the need for a venn diagream to show how the various constituencies might fit into civil society...
Glenn McKnight: (21:09) Lots of names on these lists but most are not active
judith hellerstein: (21:10) What about the CCWG's
judith hellerstein: (21:10) There is a CCWG for Internet Governance
Glenn McKnight: (21:10) I don't think new ALS are properly engaged on this being part of working grups
judith hellerstein: (21:10) this has been very active
Cheryl LangdonOrr: (21:12) Metrics might be be r described as "Paused. or On Hold"
jimmy: (21:12) What is the difference between the standing WG "Technical issues" and the ad hoc "Technology task force" ?
judith hellerstein: (21:13) @jimmy good point. I think technical issues relate to gtlds while the tech task force relates to technology issues
Heidi Ullrich: (21:13) @Jimmy, the Technical Issues WG looked at technical issues related to ICANN policy issues. The TTF looks at technical tools to assess them for use by At-Large.
Cheryl LangdonOrr: (21:17) kill and bury it
Avri Doria: (21:17) besides NCSG can be a pain in the neck.
Cheryl LangdonOrr: (21:18) :-) :-) :-) yup Avri it can indeed :-) :-) :-)
Maureen Hilyard: (21:18) @Avri LOL
jimmy: (21:21) @judith & @ Heidi THX
judith hellerstein: (21:21) Sorry where does the CCWG parts go
Glenn McKnight: (21:22) Some are situational or temporal by nature
VANDA: (21:23) we have regional strategy working groups to design different projects or keep the projects done and I believe other regions also have that. they are regional cross contituencies WG
judith hellerstein: (21:23) @heidi or @staff where do the CCWG's go on that chart. I missed that point
sandra hoferichter: (21:25) will the excel be shared by email?
Sébastien (ALAC): (21:25) Is it meetings for the whole ALAC? Or with sub-groups?
jimmy: (21:25) doodle?
sandra hoferichter: (21:25) okay thanks
judith hellerstein: (21:25) Yes, email is better
Heidi Ullrich: (21:25) @Judith, the CCWG are currently on the WG portal - https://community.icann.org/display/atlarge/At-Large+Working+Groups (at the bottom)
Heidi Ullrich: (21:26) However, there is an AI for staff on increasing the clarity of the CCWG.
jimmy: (21:26) let staff decide
judith hellerstein: (21:26) Thanks
Heidi Ullrich: (21:26) Would a survey monkey survey be useful for the presentation prioritization?
judith hellerstein: (21:27) Or if they provide useful info
Maureen Hilyard: (21:27) Do these guests ask to speak to us about what is on top for them, or do we ask them to come along?
judith hellerstein: (21:27) I think Xavier and Carole Cornell were pretty good
judith hellerstein: (21:27) in Singapore
Alberto Soto: (21:27) @Alan, thanks
Leon Sanchez: (21:27) @Alberto meetings should be aimed to either advance in common substantive issues or get updates on substantive issues from other constituencies
Heidi Ullrich: (21:28) @Maureen, generally it is both. Some ask to speak to At-Large and the ALAC asks some to speak to them.
judith hellerstein: (21:28) Also liked Laura Bengford
Alberto Soto: (21:28) @Leon, thanks
Heidi Ullrich: (21:30) Ariel will be able to quicky set up a SurveyMonkey questionnaire
jimmy: (21:31) Thats what I thaought. It might be easier to handle with one central Questionaire than a couple of excle files.
Ariel Liang: (21:31) @Jimmy agreed
VANDA: (21:31) @jimmy - agree
Leon Sanchez: (21:32) we can
jimmy: (21:32) yes
Olivier Crepin-Leblond: (21:32) WELCOME BACK GISELLA!!!!!!! /6° /6° /6°
Olivier Crepin-Leblond: (21:32) :-) :-) :-)
Heidi Ullrich: (21:32) Indeed, Olivier!!!
Heidi Ullrich: (21:32) 51 days to Dublin....
jimmy: (21:33) Gala:-)
Heidi Ullrich: (21:34) Please note that EURALO will be holding their General Assembly in Dublin.
judith hellerstein: (21:34) Are they also having a showcase
Heidi Ullrich: (21:34) The Gala will be a taste of Ireland.
Heidi Ullrich: (21:34) @Judith, EURALO will be having a networking event.
Heidi Ullrich: (21:34) The theme will be the Public Interest.
jimmy: (21:35) on Monday night?
judith hellerstein: (21:35) Will there be a music night?
Gisella Gruber: (21:35) Gala on Monday evening
Gisella Gruber: (21:35) Music night - not confirmed and unlikely
