Thank you for the quick remarks on the "History of Domain Name Owners". Since the domain name registrars are desirous of being conservative and in agreement for lock - unlock on Domain name in the context of Transfers, the history trace may not be a very significant factor.

In my humble opinion, those who attempt to buy and build on existing domain names, may want to use WHOIS to find the history of the owners to tackle connections to “black hat” search engine optimization and any unsavoury usage. This is a very positive use of WHOIS.

I wish to add that, available domains may have a malicious WHOIS history. Also, historical WHOIS information can be essential for the cybersecurity community,

For the purpose of Transfer Policy of Domain names, I suppose that the discussion and agreement on lock - unlock we have had is sufficient.

Any further thoughts are most welcome.

I am sorry that, my dial-out request for the CPWG meeting on 12 January 2022 went out to the CPWG mailing list also. This may please be expunged on the office records of the CPWG.

    3. Satish Babu with a thank you for speaking out on IDNs.

      Some observations:

English is by far the most commonly used language online, English is also the most spoken language in the world edging past Simplified Chinese.

Russian takes the second spot in the ranking in part due to the significant online presence of Runet, the internet’s Russian language community.

Simplified Chinese is the second most spoken language but ranks 10th on its usage on the Internet.

Asian languages have the highest potential for growth in internet usage.

      Bill Jouris

The evolution of alphabet from Greek to Latin provides many valuable pointers on the variants and the confusables. Before there was English, or Latin, or even Greek, there was Proto-Sinaitic. Considered the first alphabet ever used, the Proto-Sinaitic script was derived in Canaan. Its name comes from Mount Sinai, Ancient Egypt. Greek letters are commonly used in mathematics and science. Greek → Roman → Latin is an interesting path of evolution to study.

      Other Observation:

ICANN states that no domain names registered in the English language will be protected from others registering their name in another language. It is the responsibility of each company to protect its name in all other languages. Using Greek letters and Mathematical symbols common to all languages & the Dingbat character set is considered an easy way out of this challenge.
