The technology task force working group had a conference call on At-Large Technology Taskforce 2014-03 to test the Uberconference  web conferencing solution.

TTF Persons on the call : Dev Anand TeelucksinghGordon ChillcottOlivier Crepin-LeblondBerang GillenGlenn McKnight

Some of the notes from the meeting:

  • Difficulties in integrating callers on the Adigo bridge and the Uberconference bridge with integrated computer audio (in retrospect, should have just used the Uberconference audio). DAT had significant audio problems with echo. There were also problems in which the persons appeared in the chat but not in as a "audio" participant. Beran was able to use the iPad to view the conference but connected over the phone.
  • There is a list of participants, but there isn't a way to raise your hand. The main window can show the participants can show the images of persons on the call (pulled from persons's social profiles when they signed in). When persons are speaking, there is an animated speaker icon showing who is talking. There are icons when the cursor is over the person to mute/unmute and disconnect.
  • All participants have the same "rights" meaning there are no roles such as participants, hosts, or presenters in Uberconference.
  • There is a global chat window which can be "minimised" to the right of the screen. No private chat is available.
  • Files can be uploaded from your computer or from Dropbox, Box.com, Google Drive. Files are shown in a horizontal strip of icons from the bottom left of the screen. Any participant can upload documents (PDFs, Office files) which can be viewed on screen without plugins. There is no presenter mode to present through the documents.
  • There is the ability to record the call as a MP3. The recording can be turned off and on.
  • No desktop sharing option
  • No whiteboard
  • No method to poll the participants (short of asking them and seeing audio or visual responses)
  • Not tested, uberconference can integrate their telephone bridge with Google+ hangouts
  • Only one file can be displayed in the main window/pod but can't show two documents side by side for example.
  • This is suitable for ALSes use since it is free for 10 users but not for At-Large WGs.
  • After the call, Uberconference emailed a summary sheet which showed the amount of time each speaker spoke during the call, along with a link to download the MP3 file, the chat and all files presented during the call
  • No labels
