Ok will send now
14:17:39 From Lutz Donnerhacke to Everyone:
Sorry, I'm late
14:21:00 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com to Everyone:
That is a bit odd in that a sole trader or D/B/A may be using their own personal address as the registration address data. A sole trader or equivalent in the EU may have a VAT number which would identify them as a business and therefore a legal natural person. The legal advice probably covered all this.
14:25:03 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr to Everyone:
Thanks @Alan/Hadia
14:26:31 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr to Everyone:
It looks solid to me However so good to go from my POV

apologies am late

Alan is always Alan
14:31:42 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com to Everyone:
I think that the registrars would not really want to identify or include their resellers.
14:31:53 From Michelle DeSmyter - ICANN Org to Everyone:
To follow along with the RTT: https://www.streamtext.net/player?event=ICANN [streamtext.net]
14:32:36 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com to Everyone:
Poaching resellers is a part of the domain name business.
14:35:16 From Steinar Grøtterød to Everyone:
Is there a recording of the SSAD meeting on July 13 2021?
14:36:23 From Steinar Grøtterød to Everyone:
Found it: https://www.icann.org/ssadodp
14:38:17 From Lutz Donnerhacke to Everyone:
Which jursdiction applied to the request Validation? Local law of the quering LEA?
14:38:52 From Lutz Donnerhacke to Everyone:
Or the law of the Location of the registry?
14:39:03 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com to Everyone:
Botnets and phishing requests should have a higher priority than ICANN admin proceedings.
14:39:05 From Lutz Donnerhacke to Everyone:
Or the law of the locatoin of the registant(?)
14:42:04 From alangreenberg to Everyone:
@Lutz, any registry/registrar has no choice but to obey their local laws.
14:43:14 From alangreenberg to Everyone:
Other laws may be considered (such as EU laws if the registrar/registry has a significant business presence in the EU - but that is a matter of protecting itself against prosecution/fines in their EU operation.
14:43:18 From Bill Jouris to Everyone:
@Alan, sometimes it isn't clear *which* locale's law is applicable.
14:43:46 From alangreenberg to Everyone:
No, it isn't!
14:44:20 From Lutz Donnerhacke to Everyone:
Alan: ICANN is not a registy or registar, but the SSAD operator
14:45:28 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com to Everyone:
ICANN also has an office in Brussels, I think. That might put some of it under EU jurisdiction. (a nightmare for lawyers to sort out)
14:47:31 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com to Everyone:
Hopefully the new system will not use the "one form fits all" Zone File Access complaint system.
14:47:48 From Lutz Donnerhacke to Everyone:
Now please handle a request from a North-Korean LEA regarding a registry located in the US, for a registrar in Germany regarding a registrant in Russia.
14:47:57 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com to Everyone:
The requests would need to be trackable by the requestor.
14:48:17 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com to Everyone:
@Lutz That's wonderfully evil. :)
14:48:28 From Lutz Donnerhacke to Everyone:
In short. It will not work, but will be implemented anyway.
14:49:16 From Lutz Donnerhacke to Everyone:
@john, I missed the reseller in Syria
14:49:21 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com to Everyone:
:)
14:49:54 From Lutz Donnerhacke to Everyone:
The only way to obey the laws is to use the "Ultra thin whois" model.
14:50:47 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com to Everyone:
To paraphrase an expression: No ICANN PDP (etc) plan survives contact with the Internet.
14:51:51 From Gregory Shatan to Everyone:
last slide said "complaint" where it should have said "compliant"
14:52:39 From hadia Elminiawi to Everyone:
@Greg I have a new version that I shall send now
14:53:19 From hadia Elminiawi to Everyone:
@Greg Thank you - please keep proof reading'
14:55:06 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr to Everyone:
tracking (so transparency but auditable) is a useful accountability tool IMO
14:55:27 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr to Everyone:
but understanding the advantages and ROI (so to speak) is essential
14:55:52 From Lutz Donnerhacke to Everyone:
How does a transparency rule survive a gag order against i.e ICANN?
14:56:04 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com to Everyone:
@Cheryl If it works. The number of requests/requestors is unknown at the moment.
14:56:29 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr to Everyone:
gentlemen do note I used the term tool Not panacea
14:59:27 From Gregory Shatan to Everyone:
So Ssad, too Bbad,...
15:00:45 From Gregory Shatan to Everyone:

15:01:08 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com to Everyone:
Legitimate business people? :)
15:01:29 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com to Everyone:
The $50 is a deterrent rather than a charge.
15:02:00 From Lutz Donnerhacke to Everyone:
0,1% of the Monthly Revenue?
15:03:58 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr to Everyone:
Thanks @Alan/Hadia this has all been most useful in my view... and certainly support short and sweet with clarity approach
15:04:52 From hadia Elminiawi to Everyone:
Thank you Cheryl
15:07:56 From hadia Elminiawi to Everyone:
maybe a year or two
15:09:49 From hadia Elminiawi to Everyone:
the requestor would be accredited for a period of time - but there are no details yet.
15:11:22 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com to Everyone:
The SSAD could be commercially more successful than some new gTLDs if there's a $50 charge per request.
15:11:42 From hadia Elminiawi to Everyone:
yes indeed
15:12:03 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com to Everyone:
True. :)
15:12:42 From hadia Elminiawi to Everyone:
I changed it Alan and sent a new version
15:12:49 From Maureen Hilyard to Everyone:

15:13:06 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr to Everyone:
audio gremlin day for OCL
15:13:33 From alangreenberg to Everyone:
@Hadia, just joking. I could offer to sing, but don't think people would appreciate that.
15:13:44 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr to Everyone:
:-)
15:13:48 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com to Everyone:
Was doing some work on registry/reseller consolidation. There are hundreds of thousands of hosters/resellers involved each with their own nameserver domain names. That's why the $50 charge is disturbing.
15:14:29 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com to Everyone:
I've got it down to 95% or so resolution on hosters in .COM but there are always new hosters/nameservers.
15:16:17 From Justine Chew to Everyone:
I haven't gotten round to looking at the proposed renewal of the .AERO RA yet.
15:16:51 From alangreenberg to Everyone:
Sorry, had to step awa6y...
15:18:00 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com to Everyone:
A byproduct of that work was that 9.71% of .COM domain names are on sale. It varies across other gTLDs.
15:18:36 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr to Everyone:
the focus on any end user perspective or not will be critical here in if ALAC should Comment or not I would think

15:26:30 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com to Everyone:
Had some IDNs in a 1.95M web usage survey of the legacy gTLDs. There were about 21K IDNs.
15:27:17 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr to Everyone:
PLease don't @OCL
15:27:37 From Olivier Crépin-Leblond to Everyone:
if we had a different rotation with nomcom would we be able to avoid clashes?
15:28:07 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr to Everyone:
SeB suggested that NOT rotating might work for next week
15:28:16 From hadia Elminiawi to Everyone:
That would work
15:28:20 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr to Everyone:
that is what Seb requested
