16:23:51 From Peter Knight to Everyone:
I have conflict, sorry, leaving
16:25:36 From Holly Raiche to Everyone:
I’d be happy with just the Auth Code as long as protections are in place so that it is not easily hijacked

If some Registrars follow, and others don't, the business entities that wish to perpetuate anonymity for self-serving reasons would opt to deal with Registrars who don't follow the guidelines, it might prove to be deterimental to the business interests of the Registrars who opt in.
16:39:51 From Sivasubramanian M to Everyone:
and it wouldn't work
16:41:03 From Laurin Benedikt Weissinger to Everyone:
Such forms also do not work for a lot of use cases.
16:41:21 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com to Everyone:
That synonomised approach for a single registrant is quite dangerous as it could be merged with openly available WHOIS data (pre GDPR) to identify and burn through anonymity. There doesn't seem to have been much thought given to that.
16:42:38 From Evin Erdogdu to Everyone:
Thank you Alan - have noted an upcoming ALAC statement to the EPDP Initial Report - Public Comment.
16:44:10 From Jonathan Zuck to Everyone:
Sorry I’m late. Power went out
16:45:15 From Yesim Nazlar to Everyone:
Muted that person on Zoom
16:47:14 From Sivasubramanian M to Everyone:
@ Alan, even AFTER the distinction of natural Vs Legal person, is there a proposal to consider any part (pertaining to names of persons responsible etc) of the legal person's data private?
16:48:18 From Jonathan Zuck to Everyone:
And they believe they are at risk, making the decision to do any of it
16:48:18 From Sivasubramanian M to Everyone:
For such a purpose as to identify persons responsible, persons in charge of legal entities, the names of the persons responsible may have to deemed as public person's data
16:53:12 From Laurin Benedikt Weissinger to Everyone:
Thank you!
16:53:18 From Sivasubramanian M to Everyone:
Just as the WG talks about natural persons, and private persons, could alac ask to introduce the notion of a "public person", in the context of business and organisational affairs, with some limits where required, to apply to persons incharge, persons responsible ?
16:53:58 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com to Everyone:
The only certainty about NIS2 is that it will fix some stuff and break a lot more.
16:55:00 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com to Everyone:
The DNS "operator" is a good example of the lack of a clue in framing some of it as it puts a single domain DNS operator in the same category as Cloudflare with millions of domains hosted.
16:55:27 From Laurin Benedikt Weissinger to Everyone:
The problem is that the outcome of this is untenable for quite a lot of actors (some of whom are very close to key gov functions) so what else is gonna happen?
16:55:54 From Olivier Crépin-Leblond to Everyone:
RPM = RIghts Protection Mechanisms
16:56:26 From Laurin Benedikt Weissinger to Everyone:
John, have a look at the rapporteur statement: https://t.co/QrqyopHlOD
16:56:46 From Sivasubramanian M to Everyone:
Some stakeholders within ICANN let the opportunities to resolve the problems within the ICANN environment pass, by opposing balanced moves, with the result that the discussions go out to other forums where the resolutions may not be as considerate and accomodating as could possible happen within the WG.
16:57:22 From Laurin Benedikt Weissinger to Everyone:
This is from the EP rapporteur. There are people there who are into this stuff. Obviously, we do not know if they will prevail and obviously it isn’t all perfect. Yet, the voices are there.
16:57:29 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com to Everyone:
Will do, Laurin
16:59:12 From Laurin Benedikt Weissinger to Everyone:
John, some comments here as well: https://twitter.com/bgroothuis/status/1390345148643618817?s=21
17:00:52 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com to Everyone:
@Laurin It looked that the EP didn't understand how hosting and DNS worked. There are hundreds of thousands of single domain name DNSes in the gTLDs and in some of the ccTLDs.
17:02:12 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com to Everyone:
Just in .COM there are approx. 517K single domain hosters. (DNS with just one domain name hosted).

17:03:08 From Laurin Benedikt Weissinger to Everyone:
Well, it is better than what the first NIS2 draft contained.

New ICANN Learn Courses about the At-Large Community Now Available: https://atlarge.icann.org/get-involved/at-large-icann-learn-courses-en
17:06:05 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com to Everyone:
That's good. The problem is that the EP/EC does not understand hosting and how DNSes are distributed. Unless one is looking at the stats on domain names and hosting, it is very easy to get things wrong.
17:08:44 From Heidi Ullrich to Everyone:
@Marita, could you please send a note At-Large staff about your experience with the ICANN Learn course?
17:09:51 From Marita Moll to Everyone:
Ok Heidi -- will do
17:10:23 From Heidi Ullrich to Everyone:
I’ll make sure it. Is passed on - with a suggestion as well ;)
17:10:25 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com to Everyone:
In terms of gTLDs, the registrars and their owned brands account for approximately 76% of the market. 0.19% of hosters (roughly equating to DNS operators)in .COM account for 76% of the market.
