Description:

As a follow up from the first workshop last November we will continue with this discussion. We will sum up the findings, for instance what topics one should avoid, or how to address a person.
Community members will then share their stories of quirky situations which were based on language issues or cultural misperceptions.

To follow, Melissa Peters Allgood from ICANN Staff will facilitate a jam board exercise to provide us with skills on how to master typical situations one can face at ICANN Public Meetings.

This workshop will feature a panel discussion with the current ALAC Chair, Maureen Hilyard, as well as the three previous ALAC Chairs Alan Greenberg, Olivier Crepin-Leblond and Cheryl Langdon-Orr, as they share anecdotes about how they have used the art of persuasion to shift a person/group into alignment.

Following this, a roundtable discussion with the panelists will allow for further learning about which tools, ideas, and concepts they used to maximize the usefulness of their skills of persuasion.

All participants will have an opportunity to actively contribute through posting their inputs on an exclusive jamboard that will contribute to the production of At-Large community resources.  The link to the jamboard will be sent closer to the date of the Workshop.

The series “The Art of …” will continue with

...

  • The Art of PersuasionThe Art of Leadership
  • The Art of Party Party
  • The Art of Decision-making

Of course, all of the above will be within the ICANN context.
