Gisella Gruber: (1/18/2016 00:17) Welcome to the ALAC New Members On boarding call on Monday 18 January at 13:00 UTC
  Gisella Gruber: (00:17) Agenda: https://community.icann.org/x/yZxlAw
Gisella Gruber: (00:17) ALAC On boarding document: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1i_3foq3FjZvHbkyoYfmbiRO2UlgsOp_CHnAPkAOOvPM/edit?pli=1#heading=h.xruck7ig08
Gisella Gruber: (12:45) Welcome Wafa and Harold
Harold Arcos: (12:47) Can you hear me ?
  Harold Arcos: (12:47) Hi all
Kaili Kan: (13:00) Hello to all!
  Seun Ojedeji: (13:03) on it
  Wafa Dahmani: (13:07) hi all
  Heidi Ullrich: (13:08) Welcome, All!
Heidi Ullrich: (13:10) The ALAC Onboarding document was designed specifically for new ALAC members (see: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1i_3foq3FjZvHbkyoYfmbiRO2UlgsOp_CHnAPkAOOvPM/edit?pli=1#heading=h.xruck7ig08)
Gisella Gruber: (13:10) Garth has joined the call - Welcome Garth!
Gisella Gruber: (13:10) and Happy Martin Luther Kind day - apologies for scheduling on a bank holiday
Heidi Ullrich: (13:10) It includes the ALAC Rules of Procedure which outline the expectations of ALAC members,
  Alan Greenberg: (13:12) https://community.icann.org/display/atlarge/Rules+of+Procedure
Wafa Dahmani: (13:13) thank you Alan it was clear
Alan Greenberg: (13:16) The "onboarding document" is a pretty good overview of the ALAC (and a horrible name in my mind). I think it would be a good document to give to NomCom and RALOs to let prospective ALAC members know what they are letting themselves in for.
  Ariel Liang: (13:16) https://newatlarge.icann.org/
  Ariel Liang: (13:17) https://www.icann.org/public-comments
  Ariel Liang: (13:19) https://community.icann.org/display/alacpolicydev/At-Large+Policy+Advice+Development+Page
Seun Ojedeji: (13:20) Question: Is the newatlarge updated enough and now the one stop page to track PC/AtLarge activities?
Alan Greenberg: (13:20) Note that the  comment name on the At-Large policy page points to the original ICANN comment page.
Heidi Ullrich: (13:21) Also, the public comments will shortly be offered to a greater extent in multiple languages
Gisella Gruber: (13:24) I have muted Wafa
Wafa Dahmani: (13:25) yes it's ok  now
  Ariel Liang: (13:29) https://newatlarge.icann.org/policy-summary
Seun Ojedeji: (13:30) Thanks for wording it better Alan ;-)
Seun Ojedeji: (13:31) Thanks Ariel for the confirmation
  Ariel Liang: (13:32) http://atlarge.icann.org/correspondence
Seun Ojedeji: (13:34) Is that based on google translate(or any translation tool) translation? (re: the policy document translation section)
timothy denton: (13:34) The idea of staff drafting under instruction is completely normal for organizations with a staff; that is why they are hired, in part.
Alan Greenberg: (13:35) Tim, good theory, but that has not been the case for us in the past. Was not in anyone's job description. But we are moving in that direction.
Seun Ojedeji: (13:37) Will catch you offline for some other unrelated site comments on newatlarge
Heidi Ullrich: (13:37) On Ariel's point, the ALAC has written a statement to the G8 a few years ago on a relevant issue
Seun Ojedeji: (13:39) Sorry is that the same popular G8?(as per G8 heads of government)
  Heidi Ullrich: (13:39) Yes, Seun
Alan Greenberg: (13:39) @Heidi, true, but it is not clear we really have a mandate (or authority) to submit  comments on behalf of ICANN to organizations outside of ICANN.
Seun Ojedeji: (13:40) Okay I guess Alan answered what i was about asking
Harold Arcos: (13:42) My apologies The Internet is not stable in my city. However I follow all the meeting by connecting the phone.
Ariel Liang: (13:44) @Seun - re translation of the policy advice part of the new website, it will be properly translated by ICANN language services, not google translate
  Seun Ojedeji: (13:44) Great! Thanks!
  Ariel Liang: (13:45) np
Seun Ojedeji: (13:49) And some working parties
Ariel Liang: (13:51) As per an earlier point, found the GNSO PDP one-pager webpage: http://gnso.icann.org/en/issues/pdp-updates
Ariel Liang: (13:55) Working Group portal page: https://community.icann.org/x/loIi
Ariel Liang: (13:56) scroll down to organizational building band toward the bottom on the homepage of beta site: https://newatlarge.icann.org
Ariel Liang: (13:56) you will find the 'process-related' and 'outreach & engagement related' working groups
Ariel Liang: (13:57) There will be an upcoming page called 'Get Involved' in the new website, and it's another place to find all At-Large working groups
Alan Greenberg: (14:00) We did plan a rview of WGs to see if any of them should be shut down, but it is one of the things that has been delayed. About to be revived.
Sébastien: (14:00) Not WHOIS - Directory services
Alan Greenberg: (14:03) This week's term seems to be Registration Data Directory Services.
Ariel Liang: (14:11) example page of WG: https://community.icann.org/x/n4XT
Seun Ojedeji: (14:13) How does a group come to existence? does it involve an Atlarge member proposal and ALAC vote? (thats the case within AFRALO)
Heidi Ullrich: (14:15) @Seun, it can either first be a regional WG or if the issue is relevant to all of At-Large, anyone can request to start a WG.
Heidi Ullrich: (14:15) WGs generally need a Charter, a mission, a timeline for their activities.
Heidi Ullrich: (14:15) Then the ALAC will have a conensus call
Heidi Ullrich: (14:16) Staff will then work with the interim Chair to send out a call for members
Seun Ojedeji: (14:17) Thanks Heidi, this process is documented somewhere right?
Silvia Vivanco: (14:19) Please participate  in the RALO monthly call and use that call to update the RALO leaders and ALSes on latest PCs and issues discussed at the ALAC level
  Gisella Gruber: (14:19) Link: https://community.icann.org/x/ppEi
Heidi Ullrich: (14:19) @Seun, the ROPs state what is needed by the WGs.
Kaili Kan: (14:23) Can today's PPTs be distributed ?  Thanks a lot!
Heidi Ullrich: (14:25) @Kaili, yes, we can send them to you.
  Kaili Kan: (14:25) @Heidi,  Thanks a lot!
Heidi Ullrich: (14:26) There are also several processes that need to be followed during a meeting from a technical/logistical point.
  Seun Ojedeji: (14:26) Thanks Heidi
Heidi Ullrich: (14:27) Staff and the Chair of the meeting are in close contact throughout the meeting to ensure the smooth operation of the f2f meetings
  Ariel Liang: (14:28) https://newatlarge.icann.org/alac
Heidi Ullrich: (14:28) Please also let staff know how useful the ALAC onboarding document is and how to make it more effective.
Seun Ojedeji: (14:28) We've been asking questions on chat (Appreication in order)
Wafa Dahmani: (14:28) i join Tim to thank you
Heidi Ullrich: (14:29) We'll be developing a new one for Meeting C.
Heidi Ullrich: (14:31) @Harald, there are also RALO WGs which include interpretation
Ariel Liang: (14:31) Re the ALAC page on the new website, it is still under development and there will be a separate page that lists all ALAC members and liaison and is linked out from the ALAC page
  Wafa Dahmani: (14:32) tkx all
Seun Ojedeji: (14:32) Thanks a lot
  Seun Ojedeji: (14:32) bye
