ENTERTAINMENT AND CATERING SUB - COMMITTEE :
PROPOSAL FOR ARTISTIC PERFORMANCE: APAC HUB SUGGESTION: Dikir Barat performances: to be discussed during the next teleconference.
Suhaidi ISOC-MY : A high school principal in my area expressed his willingness to send his
school¹s Dikir Barat troupe 800+km south to Singapore to perform at the showcase.
If we agree, all he need is an official invitation letter from ICANN (in a week time) so that he can obtain the necessary approval (and possibly, funding) from the Ministry of Education Malaysia.
Kuek and Siranush: to work on the official invitation, Suhaidi will provide details to him, as well as Suhaidi will talk to principal to identify all other costs related to the travel of this group not to face challenges and us not to be in a wrong position (their accommodation, travel, and other related costs should be taken into consideration by the team itself).
Kelvin Wong info on performance cost:
Dikir Barat quoted us about US$650 for 10 mins (based on 20 performers), and about US$800 for 20 mins.
So with the additional interactive element we talked about (say 10 mins dance and 10 mins
interaction/teaching), it should also come up to be around US$800. Kelvin will
update the entertainment committee once I receive the actual quote (including the interactive element), but thought I’d share the estimate now for the cost comparison.
CATERING : Staff will obtain a quote for 60 - 100 pax
