9) Purpose and Goals:

Purpose:

It is to attend the Montreal IEEE conference that will focus on humanitarian applications of technology in the general areas of technologies for improving the lives of underserved peoples (including aboriginal/indigenous peoples), technologies for the disabled, health-related technologies, etc.

The panel that I'm invited to provides an opportunity to discuss these issues and to share views with IEEE members and patrons on these topics.

Goals:

We are looking for inputs from the Canadian IEEE Community on ICANN , its regional strategy objectives (5 year strategic plan and regional exchange program) and NARALO's mission. In backdrop, it will also be a good way to introduce ISOC Quebec, its role, and why and how we are committed to ICANN's multistakeholder model, how we got involved in ICANN AC/SO, including NARALO and NomCom 2014 activities.

We also want to seek interest among IEEE members and patrons to comment and nurture ICANN's regional engagement strategy.

10) Proposed Outcomes:

It will definitely be an ALAC and NARALO outreach and recruitment effort and, since I'm on NomCom 2014, I will certainly
seek candidates, even if it is for 2015. The first outcome should be NARALO new members.

I will also try to make sure that the regional (national) media hear about ICANN, the new domain names, the IDN program, Dot-Quebec (partnership is being discussed).  A media graph will be submitted.

Locally, I will be paying attention to partnership opportunities with IEEE members and ISOC Quebec, for both funding opportunities and organizing events of mutual interest.  [Share information about ICANN and ICANN At-Large to attendees which include organisations around the world and get their contact information for further followup by the relevant RALOs]

Statements of Interest for ICANN board, AC/SO, ALAC...

11) Additional Information (optional):

Some funding for a booth could be a wise investment for ICANN!
Maybe a suggestion: a CROPP toolkit for NARALO !?
