The objective of the HSBA IPTS is to serve and promote the interests of the general public, the judiciary, HSBA and its members within the fields of science, technology and intellectual property.  As an ICANN At-‐Large Structure in the State of Hawaii, HSBA IPTS endeavors to actively participate in the policy development for the worldwide Internet Domain Name System (DNS) and other unique identifiers through activities to include:  providing the local community situational awareness of and a means to influence the state of DNS and related Internet issues worldwide (particularly within Asia and the Pacific Basin); promoting DNS security and Internet best practices; and to serve as a forum for study and discussion of the Internet's naming system and related topics.  The IPTS is concerned with intellectual property and technology issues both from the point of view of rights holders and content and Internet users.
