    Correct @Alan Greenberg (ALAC)
15:18:29 From Alan Greenberg (ALAC) to Everyone:
    @Justine, yes, we are trying to keep the charter very lean, so the clarity would have to come from the Framework.

    String similarity involves using characters from different scripts that visually resemble characters from another script. For example, using the Cyrillic letter "а" (U+0430) instead of the Latin letter "a" (U+0061)

15:33:53 From Alan Greenberg (ALAC) to Everyone:
    @Olivier, yes, in most browsers
15:33:54 From ALAC-Tommi Karttaavi to Everyone:
    Some letters with accents are actually alphabet letters in some languages (like ö and ä in Finnish and Swedish) and there are double L and double R in Spanish…
15:33:57 From ALAC-Justine Chew to Everyone:
    This is also directly linked to the policy recommendations in the EPDP on IDNs to do with String Similarity for variants. Policy recommendations that the ALAC reps on that EPDP worked hard to include.

    @Bill Jouris: Suggestion: https://unicode.org/reports/tr39/#Confusable_Detection has been very useful for me. It is very algorithmic. Also, Automatic Language Recognition methods are helpful in strings that are really domain names. I am taking a break on these approaches in Indic scripts hoping to come back fresh. - Dr. T V Gopal, Anna University, Chennai, INDIA
