15:58:36 From Yesim Nazlar : RTT Link: https://www.streamtext.net/player?event=ICANN
16:17:53 From Nadira AL-ARAJ : Thank you Hadia
16:20:31 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : An interesting and important piece of info but best made by a human perhaps Alan. nuancing seems important here
16:21:33 From Hadia : +1 Alan
16:23:52 From Eduardo Diaz - Naralo : What is the deadline for the EPDP Phase II to be ready?
16:25:52 From Hadia : Thank you
16:30:33 From Abdias Zambrano : There is much echo
16:30:56 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : SO much better
16:31:10 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com : ICANN will lose the revenue from millions of discounted domain names if anything is done to address the problem of registries using massive discounting to stuff their zone files. LOAN was at 2.179 million in January 2019. It has about 24K regs today. And the issue is not limited to that single new gTLD.
16:31:40 From Hadia : ARIN & RIPE 1) “How We're Implementing the GDPR: Legal Grounds for Lawful Personal Data Processing and the RIPE Database”: https://labs.ripe.net/Members/Athina/gdpr-legal-grounds-for-lawful-personal-data-processing-and-the-ripe-database 2) “How We're Implementing the GDPR: The RIPE Database”: https://labs.ripe.net/Members/Athina/how-we-re-implementing-the-gdpr-the-ripe-database 3) "Personal Data Privacy Considerations At ARIN": https://teamarin.net/2018/03/20/personal-data-privacy-considerations-at-arin/ 4) ARIN "Data Accuracy": https://www.arin.net/reference/materials/accuracy/ 5) ARIN Registration Services Agreement, paragraph 3: https://www.arin.net/about/corporate/agreements/rsa.pdf 6) ARIN Privacy Policy: https://www.arin.net/about/privacy/
16:31:52 From Nadira AL-ARAJ : excellent
16:35:24 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com : All the registry agreements mention uniformity of renewal offers but there's no mention of first year promotions. It may require looking at registry agreements to deal with some forms of discounting.
16:37:54 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com : It is a very tricky problem. And the registries might have to be onside with any movements.
16:38:29 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : Important point JZ (noting it with an ATRT bias I asmit)
16:38:45 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com : The other aspect is that ICANN is obsessed with competition but there's very little attention to demand. The lack of demand is at the heart of discouting to drive registrations.
16:39:26 From Holly Raiche : +1 to JM
16:39:44 From Jonathan Zuck : Agree @John. It also drives deviation from PICs that would otherwise restrict available registrants
16:41:32 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com : PICs go out the window when business models fail. That's what happened with a lot of NGTs. The LOAN was a classic example. Started out well but lack of demand forced it into discounting.
16:41:54 From Jonathan Zuck : yup
16:41:55 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com : Chat only. No mic on this computer.
16:42:40 From Holly Raiche : ask Leon
16:43:00 From heidi.ullrich : 14th October
16:43:07 From Hadia : ok thanks heidi
16:43:52 From Hadia : ok so we have like a week
16:44:03 From Evin Erdoğdu : Noted, will take down as an AI
16:46:28 From Evin Erdoğdu : Thanks to Justine!
16:50:15 From Fouad Bajwa : :) atleast Olivier got caught for something.....
16:51:38 From Hadia : yes
16:56:17 From Jonathan Zuck : And we don’t have consensus
16:57:09 From Holly Raiche : Mainly, we do not have consensus
16:57:19 From Eduardo Diaz - Naralo : Are these PICs already set or is there any chance that they can be changed through the Public comments process?
16:58:26 From Marita Moll : I think there are pretty well set @eduardo
16:59:27 From Olivier MJ Crepin-Leblond : I believe these are proposed PICs and it is better to comment earlier rather than later, should the ALAC decide to comment.
17:00:11 From Eduardo Diaz - Naralo : @MArita: so the only thing that we can say is that we support them or not. Since there is no consensus on that then we should say so if that is what is decided.
17:00:52 From Fouad Bajwa : better now than later......comment procrastination .... not cool
17:02:51 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : So say that a caution has been shown in the input
17:04:12 From Alberto Soto : +1 Cheryl
17:04:25 From Yrjo Lansipuro : +1 CLO
17:04:32 From Satish Babu : We should communicate that we did consider the matter but we do not have consensus.
17:06:21 From Evin Erdoğdu : Noted
17:06:40 From Jonathan Zuck : A burning issue…too soon?
17:06:55 From Hadia : +1 Satich
17:07:13 From Eduardo Diaz - Naralo : I am still commenting on that document
17:08:42 From Evin Erdoğdu : Google Doc for DRAFT: ALAC Statement on Next Steps to Improve the Effectiveness of ICANN's Multistakeholder Model (comment-only) -
17:08:48 From Evin Erdoğdu : https://docs.google.com/document/d/1sdeVdOucbtR0OHwEGGVSb82TQILLe53m83gcdlFJivU/edit?usp=sharing
17:13:13 From Hadia : Thanks Marita
17:13:20 From Hadia : yes
17:14:44 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : Is very Focused on solution to a few matters like resourcing and not entrenched in the MSM EXACTLY ALAN!!!!
17:15:33 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : and sorry I am in another SubPro Leadership team call now as well
17:15:45 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : Deffinatly agree @ Alan
17:18:18 From Marita Moll : It has been raised several times in the document @Cheryl
17:18:48 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : I am listening
17:19:13 From Vrikson Acosta : Sorry I'm late. Unpredictable, as usual in Venezuela , lack of electricity and obviously Internet
17:21:06 From Marita Moll : In the document we have tried to be forward looking and present as many potential solutions as possible while noting that the solutions presented will not necessarily work for us
17:21:07 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : It is a foundation of the MSM Alan Yes...there is a lot of reactive approqaches tp it
17:21:25 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : that said there is some GREAT stuff IN PDP 3.0 as well
17:21:28 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : IMO
17:24:08 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : Yes SeB mentioning it is fine for THIS discussion BUT there is a lot more to this evolution of the MSM Model matters
17:24:39 From Abdulkarim Oloyede : i think we should not reduce the discussion of the MSM document to PDP 3.0. there are lots more to the doc than PDP 3.0
17:24:54 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : Indeed!
17:25:10 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : it is a part but not a whole by any means
17:25:17 From Marita Moll : @Seb -- please look at the draft doc. and see meets any of your issues.
17:28:05 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : A good thought JZ
17:29:23 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : the Review was of the GNSO Holly the GNSO COuncil is the Manager of PDPs and they are rightly so looking at efficiencies and effectiveness
17:29:48 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : Yes @ Marita let's NOT get hing up on 1 or a few things
17:30:15 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : +111 @Marita
17:30:44 From Tijani : I have to leave now
17:31:41 From Marita Moll : Once again, folks, I urge you to comment on the draft document. It is almost 10 pages -- we have been working on this for a few weeks.
17:32:02 From Holly Raiche : I@ Cheryl - the review was of the GNSO
17:32:20 From Yrjo Lansipuro : At the Paris IGF, a French govt rep put it well: MSM is fine but it still lacks grammar. PDP 3.0 is one attempt to design those grammatical rules
17:32:27 From Holly Raiche : - and its first recommendations were to ensure a more inclusive PDP process
17:33:55 From Marita Moll : Thanks @cheryl. Some of that who owns the issue is still lacking in the document and some more suggestions are welcome.
17:35:56 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : the who owns and does he work on finding solutions is a vital part of the process with MSM
17:36:16 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : should read The work
17:36:20 From Evin Erdoğdu : Sure will do
17:36:58 From Hadia : ok
17:39:31 From Eduardo Diaz - Naralo : need to move to another meeting. Thanks,
17:40:04 From Hadia : great Alberto
17:40:53 From Judith Hellerstein : HI Cheryl, I thought the revised survey allowed for all of the above
17:41:35 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : Thanks everyone Bye for now... I still find it annoying that these calls overlap other meetings in part so regularly.
17:41:54 From Judith Hellerstein : They were supposed to change the survey early on as we had revised it so it seems that this was not done
17:41:58 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : if they read our comments they should now already
17:42:18 From Hadia : Thank you all bye
17:42:22 From Evin Erdoğdu : Thank you all!
17:42:25 From Marita Moll : Thanks all -- bye
17:42:26 From Alberto Soto : Thanks,bye bye!!!!
17:42:50 From Satish Babu : Thanks and bye!
17:42:50 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : it has the usual overlap but situation normal
17:42:54 From John McCormac - HosterStats.com : Later all.
