Trip Assessment Form

1) Describe the Trip in sufficient detail
that an interested reader could understand Who,
What, When, Where, and Why concerning this
funded CROP activity (please be as expansive
as possible):

ICANN62

I participated in ICANN62 Meeting in Panamá, representing eCommerce Institute at the Business Constituency (BC), where I am also a member of the Outreach Committee.

BC Sessions:

I participated in every BC session during the time I was in Panamá. I reported to the BC about the BC Outreach event held in Panamá as well as about the LA ICANN Participation Study I am working on with a team, for the Business Constituency.

BC Outreach Event organized with a local Counterpart - CAPATEC:

Under my capacity as a Latin American member of the Outreach Committee of the BC, I led the organization of an Outreach event in which more than 50 people participated. Here, the BC was able to interact and network with the local Community in Panamá, as well as other ICANN participants from the region, some also, from the Regional Fellowship.

I have personally contacted CAPATEC (the Panamá Chamber of Internet and eCommerce) with the help of IPANDETEC (another local organization to which Rodrigo De la Parra introduced me to) and also with the invaluable help of eCommerce Institute. CAPATEC assisted the BC and myself as a counterpart to invite the local community to our event. Also Rodrigo de la Parra and Daniel Fink helped us contact other regional participants to invite them to the event. For the event we had the help of ICANN staff such as Chris Mondini's team and Chantelle Doerksen (BC Secretariat).

Beforehand, I personally contacted all attendees to invite participants to the event, and coordinated the sending of the invitations to local contacts (which were developed by myself and Chantelle). After the event, I created a database of all guests for the purposes of follow-up and recruitment where appropriate. I reported the numbers to Chris Mondini for tracking purposes, as he facilitated the room and catering for the event. Upon completion of ICANN62, I began following up with every participant from the event.

During the event, Chris Mondini, Claudia Selli (AT&T), Dario Anguizola (Capatec) and myself, addressed the audience, informed about the BC and created the context for the networking to be followed.

I have also interviewed 3 people in Panamá, and will interview many more as part of the LA Study mentioned above.

2) Explain the extent to which the Proposed
Goals and Outcomes were accomplished
(see above LINK to review the original Proposal):

The goals were accomplished as the Outreach event was a success for the BC, for CAPATEC, and for ICANN. Also, we have a very interesting list of prospects to contact, both for the LA Study undergoing in which I am a team member, and also as potential new BC members or maybe members of other constituencies as well I have already been contacted by 2 organizations that are seeking for more information in order to consider joining the BC. Also,  the BC has officially received one new membership application as a direct result of this event.

3) Additional information pertaining
to this outreach Trip (optional):

In a more personal comment, this trip has accomplished the goal of helping me and my organization re-engage after 3 years of not being able to participate in person in ICANN meetings, due to recent motherhood as well as other priorities of my organization and changes in the contract between my organization and myself to an independent contractor relationship.

4) Please fill out the date when you have completed this form:06-Jul-2018
