1) Describe how the original Purpose and Goals were accomplished: | As an IP lawyer in Grupo Televisa, the largest media company in the Spanish-speaking world, with extensive experience in trademark, copyright and domain name issues not only in Mexico but in over 50 countries where Grupo Televisa has presence, it was a great opportunity to experience in person ICANN meetings, get to talk with some of its staff and members, to learn more about its management, procedures, policy, and new programs. Specifically it was enriching for my practice to know the status of the new gTLD program, ICANN position regarding “extortions” to brand owners due to pricing policies, and efficiency of the dispute resolution mechanisms. |
