Trip Assessment Form

1) Describe how the original Purpose and Goals were accomplished:

CROPP presence and participation at the CEO Summit in Abuja had the overall goal of increasing awareness, engagement and participation in ICANN and the ICANN BC in particular by the African business community. This is consistent with ICANN’s strategic and regional engagement strategy as well as the overall goals of the CROPP. To accomplish this BC member Dr, Waudo Siganga was facilitated to actively participate in the CEO Summit which brought together over 40 business leaders in Nigeria for the one day event. Dr. Siganga made a substantive presentation at the event detailing the organizational structure as well as its operational format. The presentation spelt out to the attendees the opportunities and benefits of engagement and invited their participation. Dr. Siganga fielded questions during a lively discussion session which indicated keen interest from those present.

2) Describe how the original Outcomes were achieved:

a) Recruitment targets: one new member to the BC enlisted at the meeting, with a number of others showing keen interest and collecting the BC membership application form

b) During the discussions it was clear that some of the 40-plus attendees were hearing of ICANN/BC for the very first time meaning new awareness was generated which will be useful not only for future general participation but also in availing a regional pool of interested candidates for ICANN/BC positions and activities from a hitherto under-represented region.(e.g., quantities of new members)

c) The press was present at the meeting and Dr. Siganga gave an interview to one of the media houses, to be published later. This further increases the domain reach.
