Consumers constituency meeting:
This remains a very contentious topic. The discussion at this meeting was very useful however as it allowed for the genesis and history of the Consumers constituency proposal to be clearly outlined. Most of the attendees seemed to support the proposal and wanted it to continue through the approval process right away. Rob Hoggarth, the staff member in attendance was able to assist us with our understanding of some of the contentious aspects of the issue.

One or two of the individuals attending were involved with the NCUC consumer interest group activity. It is my feeling that the meeting was useful as it clarified for those individuals the reality of the formal proposal that conforms to the new NCSG realities.

A fuller understanding of the nuances surrounding this meeting was gained through attendance at the GNSO meeting at Noon.

The “interest group” idea seems to be promoted by the group involved with the old NCUC. They are opposed to the constituency proposal.

This dichotomy was reflected in the afternoon meeting. The next steps were unclear but the majority of the attendees wanted the proposal to move forward. The attendees will be contacted by e-mail for follow up.
