13:28:21 From Alfredo Calderon - VSIG to Everyone:
NARALO is working through the ROP and integration of the ALS Mobilzation recommendations.  We are pleased with the feedback by the working group lead by Alan and we should have the document ready soon
13:31:08 From Claire Craig to Everyone:
That is good to know. Alfredo. LACRALO has also started the process. It would be good to see what you have done so far or when your document is ready
13:35:37 From Frank Anati to Everyone:
hi everyone Frank Anati from Ghana
13:39:06 From Naveed Bin Rais to Everyone:
I am interested to know what is the potential way forward for RALOs in the light of these recommendations and what has happened so far after Dec 2020?
13:40:47 From Silvia Vivanco - ICANN Org to Everyone:
    We note your question @Naveed
13:42:19 From Alfredo Calderon (ICANN74 Mentor) to Everyone:
Welcome to NextGen, Newcomers, and ICANN74 Fellows for your interest in becoming, if not already, an active member in AtLarge.
13:43:51 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr - Internet Australia to Everyone:
@Satish  the ALS can appoint anyone Leadership is not a criteria... It is up to the ALS and its unique structure , design and desires
13:44:28 From Satish Babu to Everyone:
    Thanks Alan and Cheryl.
13:44:49 From Alberto Soto to Everyone:
    No problem Seb
13:46:56 From Alan Greenberg to Everyone:
@Naveed, for various reasons, some related to the pandemic, we have been slow to actually start implementing these Recs. That is happening now, and it is critical for all RALOs to adjust their own rules to map to these recommendations.
13:47:25 From Naveed Bin Rais to Everyone:
    Thanks @Alan
13:48:52 From Alan Greenberg to Everyone:
NARALO is also implementing the Indiv Users at the same time as our update for ALSes.
13:49:58 From Satish Babu to Everyone:
APRALO is also in the process of integrating these two reports into  our RoPs.
13:50:16 From Naveed Bin Rais to Everyone:
COMMENT: I believe that the channel of representation with the ALS should not be individual emails but ALS should be bound to create some generic representative emails or a mailing list which should be the point of contact for ALAC and RALOs with the ALS
13:50:46 From Alan Greenberg to Everyone:
The NARALO RoP revision will be completed (hopefully) within a few weeks.
13:51:34 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr - Internet Australia to Everyone:
Indeed @Satish and there are only a limited amount of totally necessary changes for our RALO to need to make to comply.
13:53:17 From DANIEL K. NANGHAKA to Everyone:
ALS Reps should be able to report back to there respective ALS
13:53:40 From Shreedeep Rayamajhi to Everyone:
I think there should be a debate and process about ALS voting against community  member voting
13:54:01 From Shreedeep Rayamajhi to Everyone:
    for leadership
13:54:08 From Alberto Soto to Everyone:
<comment> There should be more than one representative per ALS. At an iGF, I think that in Panama, after my presentation on LACRALO, two people approached me and asked me for information to incorporate their organization as ALS. A while later, someone I knew from being a representative of an ALS in LACRALO approached. The three people belonged to the same organization, and two of them did not know that they were already in LACRALO.
13:54:10 From DANIEL K. NANGHAKA to Everyone:
During the RALO calls, ALSes organize O&E activities and they report back to the RALO during the monthly meetings

13:54:35 From DANIEL K. NANGHAKA to Everyone:
    Regional participation is important
13:55:04 From Lutz Donnerhacke to Everyone:
You mean, that the voting System should be switched from a hierachical (ALS -> RALO -> ALAC) to a democratic one?
13:55:48 From Shreedeep Rayamajhi to Everyone:
[comment ] leadership selected by few represtative is better than one representative
13:56:11 From Shreedeep Rayamajhi to Everyone:
[comment ] leadership selected by community members is better than one representative
13:56:23 From Seun S. Ojedeji to Everyone:
Actually Alan i certainly don't have any material changes on the recommendations as members from AFRALO also contributed at that time but i think individual membership and ALSes recommendations could have been done at once....the process to getting this through within the RALO isn't fun
13:56:23 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr - Internet Australia to Everyone:
@Amrita each RALO can manage it's own mechanism for specifically handling  Ind Member votes...   your right when method that  'bundles' the votes of many into an equivalence  to an ALS vote ( as you described) is common but not unchangeable by any RALO that sees a better way of balancing equivalence and weighting etc., being considered...   there can be some clever thinking from the RALOs as to how they can make such changes for best outcomes and benefits..
13:56:48 From Chokri Ben Romdhane to Everyone:
@Alen Congratulations for the great job
13:58:52 From Alan Greenberg to Everyone:
@Seun, the processes for ALS and Indiv were separate, but they are both done now and ready to be implemented by RALOs.
13:59:14 From Sarah Kiden to Everyone:
@Seun, I think in AFRALO we reviewed individual membership rules alongside working party work. We even invited Roberto to some of our calls. I hope most issues were covered
13:59:15 From Amrita Choudhury to Everyone:
We have similar process in APRALO where all Individual members collaboratively have 1 single vote @Sebastien
13:59:32 From Amrita Choudhury to Everyone:
    Thanks @Cheryl
13:59:35 From Naveed Bin Rais to Everyone:
@Amrita. I agree we have to deal with this issue of individual representation. There should be some rationale like 10 individuals per one vote or something like that. But it should not be like we are following now. Unlimited number of individual members contribute to only one vote
13:59:55 From Sarah Kiden to Everyone:
@Amrita, that's what we implemented in AFRALO, which we adapted from other RALOs
14:00:05 From Alan Greenberg to Everyone:
I'm sure NARALO will be happy to participate.
14:00:11 From Chokri Ben Romdhane to Everyone:
@Naveed I the goal in my opinion is to increase the number of engaged members, and the individual membership contribute to reach this goal in addition to ALS
14:00:27 From Seun S. Ojedeji to Everyone:
@Sarah for individual members yes we addressed all issues, but with regards to the ALSes i don't think so....
14:00:59 From Eduardo Díaz - NARALO Chair to Everyone:
CAn someone put the links here?
14:01:21 From Naveed Bin Rais to Everyone:
@Chokri I agree but one of the ways to make them feel relevant is that their vote counts
14:02:01 From Seun S. Ojedeji to Everyone:
@Alan AFRALO already implemtned that of the individual members and we will be happy to share experience with regards to that....i just wish we didn't have to go through this review process twice
14:02:19 From Heidi Ullrich - ICANN Org to Everyone:

14:04:04 From Sarah Kiden to Everyone:
@Seun I think we did for both, starting with ALSMob but maybe I don't recall. The last 3 years have flown by
14:06:14 From Shreedeep Rayamajhi to Everyone:
(comment )another issue that is immerging in ALS management is few if the countrys have higher number of als how should this be managed as it will clearly affect the leadership selection process....
14:07:48 From Alan Greenberg to Everyone:
@Seun, it may be possible that no real changes are need to the RALO rules. In NARALO the actual changes were minimal.  One example was that NARALO had a rule that an indiv. Member could not be a member of an ALS and that has been changed to an indiv member could not be a Rep or leader of an ALS.
14:09:20 From Chokri Ben Romdhane to Everyone:
@Naveed it depends of the Representativeness of  ALS
14:11:29 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr - Internet Australia to Everyone:
Cooperation and load sharing  is a good way of doing my much favoured  "works SMARTer not harder"  approach to success.
14:11:35 From Alberto Soto to Everyone:
<comment> The coordination can be a monthly or bimonthly meeting of the chairs and secretaries of the ralos, with ALAC
14:11:44 From Naveed Bin Rais to Everyone:
@Chokri   What I mean is that we RALO should be contact abstract email addresses such as president@als.some or ceo@als.some rather than the emails of individual because in a number of ALSes, the leadership change very frequently and all previous coordination done with an individual email might get lost. This will allow the correspondence to be consistent
14:13:05 From Shreedeep Rayamajhi to Everyone:
    thank u sabatian
14:15:40 From DANIEL K. NANGHAKA to Everyone:
<COMMENT> Outreach and Engagement takes a bottom up process where RALOs develop there Regional Strategies in collaboration with there respective VP Stakeholders - each regional strategy feeds into the Global strategy <COMMENT>
14:16:13 From Alan Greenberg to Everyone:
@Naveed, I would think that at best, this could be a recommendation to the ALS, but hard to make it an absolute requirements.

Yes, it was that we needed more structured election rules.
14:30:08 From Alberto Soto to Everyone:
