13:57:55 From Adrian Schmidt : Hello! Thank you!!! How are you doing?
13:57:58 From Javier Rua-Jovet : hi! hola!
14:00:34 From Judith Hellerstein : hi. sorry we just came from another meeting that ran late
14:01:16 From silvia.vivanco : Hello all welcome
14:12:37 From Judith Hellerstein : i used to have health insurance that covered travel but under the affordable care program i lost it as I was forced to join the exchange and those plans did not have travel insurance
14:12:53 From Yubelkys Montalvo : Greetings to all!
14:13:33 From silvia.vivanco : Welcome Yubelkys! Bienvenida
14:16:03 From Judith Hellerstein : new hand
14:16:15 From Heidi Ullrich : Hi All, the Public Comment for Travel Guidelines closed on 15 April - See: https://www.icann.org/public-comments/community-travel-guidelines-2020-02-13-en
14:17:04 From Judith Hellerstein : hi Heidi. i included it in the comments to the travel guidelines
14:19:11 From Heidi Ullrich : Given that it was included in the ALAC statement, what is the aim of this survey?
14:20:02 From Glenn McKnight FBSC : Good point. We are approaching from two angles
14:20:06 From Heidi Ullrich : The staff report is due out on 15 June
14:20:24 From Heidi Ullrich : So perhaps a first step is to wait to see the staff report.
14:20:26 From Glenn McKnight FBSC : Judith is referring to the revision on ICANN policy guidelines
14:20:53 From Glenn McKnight FBSC : This document is more detailed It seems in this discussion the idea has validity
14:21:45 From Evan Leibovitch : Insurance is one of those areas in which it's hard to demonstrate need until there's a catastrophic failure
14:21:52 From Judith Hellerstein : i agree. we were the only group that mentioned it in the travel guidelines and did not have a chance to get others to support it
14:22:26 From Javier Rua-Jovet : Marita, thx for this effort.
14:22:29 From John More : I always have travel insurance and once purchased it at a discount for multiple employees. ICANN. should be asked to cover it.
14:23:18 From Judith Hellerstein : i have no issue to taking the survey
14:23:20 From Glenn McKnight FBSC : We are formally raising the issue to NARALO
14:23:35 From Karen Mulberry : I think this is a good idea to look at if there is a problem and how big the problem might be for Community Travelers before we move forward with framing a request to ICANN org to look at a recommendation from us
14:23:37 From Glenn McKnight FBSC : it has not been raised formally before
14:23:46 From Heidi Ullrich : What will the outcome be? Where will the results go?
14:24:01 From silvia.vivanco : https://www.icann.org/public-comments/community-travel-guidelines-2020-02-13-en
14:24:12 From Heidi Ullrich : PC page: https://www.icann.org/public-comments/community-travel-guidelines-2020-02-13-en
14:24:13 From silvia.vivanco : The Public comment link is above
14:24:31 From Heidi Ullrich : The Guidelines are updated every few Years.
14:24:47 From Evan Leibovitch : Agreed with Heidi that this is more than a NARALO or even an ALAC one. There should be a policy that all funded volunteers should be insured.
14:24:55 From Glenn McKnight FBSC : Our document is a bit more comprehensive providing background information
14:25:07 From Heidi Ullrich : Text: Travel Insurance
ICANN org will reimburse travel insurance expenses only if it is required to apply for a visa. To
be reimbursed, the supported traveler must provide proof that the insurance is required.
14:25:15 From Heidi Ullrich : What is the aim of the survey?
14:25:18 From Alfredo Calderon : P.lease proceed with the Survey
14:25:20 From David Mackey : no objections to the survey
14:25:21 From Javier Rua-Jovet : no objection
14:25:27 From Karen Mulberry : No objections!
14:25:32 From Glenn McKnight FBSC : no objection
14:25:39 From Judith Hellerstein : no objections to the survey
14:25:58 From Alfredo Calderon : Abe proactive...gree we should
14:26:00 From Bill Jouris : I would make sure the survey also asks, "Is this a problem for you?"
14:26:22 From Adrian Schmidt : yup
14:26:59 From Evan Leibovitch : I have no problem with a survey, though I think the results will be obvious. Who would answer that there are any circumstances in which it's ok to be funded to an ICANN meeting but to do so uninsured?
14:27:22 From Adrian Schmidt : yes we can see it thanks
14:27:38 From Karen Mulberry : I would also like to have a question on whether the lack of insurance might have prevented someone from traveling
14:27:58 From Bill Jouris : @Evan, someone who has been traveling without ICANN funding might find even uninsured travel a step forward
14:30:00 From Judith Hellerstein : yes both the CPWG and the OPB WG as well-since policy is being discussed in both committees
14:31:43 From David Mackey : I like the proposed meeting format. Thanks Eduardo.

14:34:27 From Marita Moll : On the travel insurance issue, I did want to note that I am not travelling without insurance myself, so this would not affect me.
14:34:43 From Evan Leibovitch : @Bill, I'm simply tired of ICANN treating volunteer travel as charity for which even basic needs have to be fought for (and often still denied). Others are welcome to be satisfied with what scraps are offered. I think this is a fundamental concept of ICANN's respect for the volunteers without whom it could not exist.
14:36:05 From Marita Moll : @Evan -- this is the why we are bringing this up. It has to start somewhere.
14:36:49 From Glenn McKnight FBSC : Ed i want to do a short report on the Caring Communities from NARALO participation
14:37:09 From Glenn McKnight FBSC : Ed we also need a replacement for the Social Media Working Group
14:38:08 From Glenn McKnight FBSC : sure
14:38:22 From Glenn McKnight FBSC : also the need for a replacement for Susanne on the SMWG
14:38:54 From John More : Looks good.
14:38:58 From silvia.vivanco : @Eduardo, Thank you for your renewed Monthly call format and O/E Strategy
