May 14, 2018 12:41:10 PM from Leah Symekher (SFBay Area ISOC) to all participants: Hello All: Due to the time factor in activity progress i prefer to give this update in this meeting so here goes: For ICANN NOMCOM update please refer to this update sent in April. May 14, 2018 12:42:13 PM from Jonathan Zuck to all participants: but I think it's too mcuh to point folks to WGs and such. Need more targeted outreach for shorter term participation

May 14, 2018 12:43:35 PM from Heidi Ullrich to all participants: We also have Orientation calls for the RALOs which allow newer members to have an overview of the RALO, meet their leaders and get to know the support staff.

May 14, 2018 12:44:35 PM from Anna Loup to all participants: @jonathanzuck I agree, shorter term participation through targeted outreach is a must

May 14, 2018 12:46:18 PM from Jonathan Zuck to all participants: it will be considerable work @Anna but I think bear more fruit than efforts to expand "the community" as a whole of the lifers.

May 14, 2018 12:49:18 PM from Marita Moll to all participants: I looked at the slides. I am trying to do some outreach in Canada. It is a difficult challenge and every context is different. We really need to learn how to expand the circles in our own contexts. It is a slow process. Good ideas on the slides -- but the devil is in the details.

May 14, 2018 1:04:32 PM from Greg Shatan to all participants: They can also enforce on their own initiative, and there they can be more lenient. This year “Good faith efforts to comply” will keep most non-compliant types safe enough.

May 14, 2018 1:04:57 PM from Silvia Vivanco to all participants: @ all please note message from John Laprise

May 14, 2018 1:05:00 PM from Silvia Vivanco to all participants: from John Laprise"
“The Social Media Working Group is looking for your help. Issues of concern, content, platform, and language vary from RALO to RALO. It’s obvious that a top down SoMe strategy is unworkable and likely to be unsuccessful. We would like you as RALO leaders to go to your members, identify social media champions, and seek volunteers to form RALO level SoMe working groups. We will work with them to develop RALO-level strategies to build public engagement and presence. We hope to recruit 5-10 individuals with strong SoMe skills and online presence in each RALO. When you’ve recruited/volunteered your team please provide a list to Evin and we’ll begin work assessing skills and developing workshops to meet their needs so that they can be an asset to your RALO and At large generally.”
John Laprise
SoMeWG Chair”

May 14, 2018 1:05:32 PM from Susannah Gray (SF Bay ISOC) to all participants: Did I miss this message from John on the social media WG list?

May 14, 2018 1:06:01 PM from Heidi Ullrich to all participants: We will be highligthing both ALS/individual activities as well as Policy activities on SM going forward in order to ensure the valuable work of At-Large is communicated.

May 14, 2018 1:06:48 PM from Heidi Ullrich to all participants: @Susannah, John asked staff to post the text above to all RALO calls given his time contstraints.

May 14, 2018 1:06:49 PM from Leah Symekher (SFBay Area ISOC) to all participants: Thanks Eduardo.
