1) Describe how the original Purpose and Goals were accomplished: | The Purpose and Goals of this Trip were to conduct outreach to potential new IPC members in the ICANN European region, particularly in eastern Europe. As a founding member of the IPC, former ICANN Board member, and long-time participant in ICANN, I brought a unique perspective in participating in the Intellectual Property Law Conference at the University of Belgrade, educating faculty, students, and other participants about intellectual property issues in the Internet and DNS spaces, and the interaction between intellectual property issues and ICANN. In addition to a presentation on these issues, brochures and other information regarding the IPC and how to participate in ICANN were disseminated to conference participants, with encouragement to join the IPC and become active participants, through the IPC, in the ICANN community. |
2) Describe how the original Outcomes were achieved:
| The original Outcomes of this Trip were to add additional new IPC members, thereby increasing global Internet community participation in ICANN, particularly with interests in intellectual property issues. One participant in the Conference had previously joined the IPC as a new member, and previously served as an ICANN Fellow. The IPC remains in contact with this participant, an intellectual property law professor at the University of Belgrade who organized the conference, and has encouraged him to conduct further outreach to potential new IPC members within his University. The IPC hopes to continue conducting similar outreach programs to encourage new globally and culturally diverse IPC members from across ICANN regions. |
3) Date Completed: | 01-Oct-2015 |
