Proposed Session Title

Cross-Community Collaboration to Deliver the New gTLD Program Next Round that We All Want


Brief Description:

Following the 3 Application Support Program Outreach & Engagement Webinars in late July and early August 2024 and the New gTLD Program Next Round update at ICANN81, the At-Large Community will convene to review and discuss ways to amplify ICANN org’s outreach and engagement plans for the New gTLD Program Next Round (Next Round) and Applicant Support Program (ASP).


The goal of this session is to harness and coordinate the vast networks within the ICANN Community and to encourage the identification and exploration of collaborative opportunities between At-Large Structures (ALSes), At-Large Individual Members (IMs) and other ICANN Community groups to support the outreach and engagement plans for the Next Round and more urgently, the ASP, which is now expected to be launched on 19 November 2024.


The format of the session will be speakers sharing their updates on the topic, followed by community members brainstorming in breakout groups and then reporting back on the key discussions, speakers commenting on the suggestions shared, and finally summarizing the key action points.


Proposed Flow:

Welcome and Introduction to the Session (5 mins)

Objective Setting 10 mins

Speakers sharing updates 10 mins

Breakout groups to brainstorm and identify areas of collaboration 5 on-site + 1 online groups. The objective is to select 3 areas of collaboration and brainstorm strategies for delivering those priorities (30 mins)

Report on output of 6 breakout groups on the proposed areas of collaboration with rationale (20 mins)

Comments from Speakers (10 mins)

Summarizing the session with key action points (5 mins)


Rationale/Desired Outcomes:

The objective of this session is to to assist the At-Large to explore opportunities and develop concrete steps to collaborate with other ICANN Community groups to support the outreach and engagement plans for the Next Round and especially the Applicant Support Program (ASP),

Participants from SOs/ACs who are actively engaged in the ASP and new GTLD programs would be invited to participate in this discussion and actively participate in the brainstorming sub groups.
