The Competition, Consumer Trust and Consumer Choice Review is mandated by ICANN Bylaws Section 4.6(d) to assess the "(A) the extent to which the expansion of gTLDs has promoted competition, consumer trust and consumer choice and (B) the effectiveness of the New gTLD Round's application and evaluation process and safeguards put in place to mitigate issues arising from the New gTLD Round".  For more Information on CCT

*Prior to the transition to ICANN the U.S Commerce Department's National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), pursued review initiatives, using a process of Affirmations of Commitments (AOC). The AOC process is different than the current ICANN bylaw mandated Specific Review process that is guided by evolving community operating standards, that future Specific Reviews will be fulfilled under.
