Topic is:

Review of the Board’s suggestion (by Katim J. Touray) to hold a meeting with the JAS WG and the Board, ALAC, GAC, and other interested parties.  Specific point of meeting would be to get the Board’s, ALAC’s, and GAC’s feedback on the JAS WG’s Second Milestone Report, specifically from the Board, ALAC, and GAC, as stakeholders.  In this way, the JAS WG would be able to make sure the Report is consistent with what these stakeholders want and with the charter(s).

Background according to Olivier on this call:

Katim sent his request to the GNSO (Olivier probably meant GNSO Council) and ALAC, asking if there’d be interest in having a session in Singapore to discuss the Second Milestone Report with the Board and the GAC.

Olivier then put forward the idea of first having a conference call, before Singapore, with the JAS WG, selected Board members, and selected GAC members in order to prepare for this meeting in Singapore.

He posed this question:  Is the ALAC okay with such a call to prepare for the Singapore meeting, given that the GNSO is not even near to ratifying the JAS WG’s Second Milestone Report?

The exact statement/motion on which the ALAC voted in this meeting:

The ALAC is pleased to note interest from the Board and other stakeholders towards the second Milestone Report of the Cross-community Joint Applicant Support Working Group (JAS WG). To this extent, the ALAC therefore welcomes the organisation of a conference call -- for interested members of the JAS WG, ICANN Board, GNSO, GAC, At-Large and other interested community members -- to discuss the status and way forward for the JAS WG. We also request the creation of a multi-stakeholder meeting on this issue to be held at the ICANN meeting in Singapore.

The motion passed (unanimously), with the exception of the two ALAC members not present.  In other words, the vote was:  13 [or 12] for, 0 against, and 0 abstentions.

Olivier then said the follow-up would be the following:

The ExCom will then take this forward by replying to the suggestion from Katim and advising the JAS WG and the GNSO of the ALAC’s hopes in this matter.
