9) Proposed Goals and Outcomes:

Content Guidelines (click here)

The objectives of the CROP trip are:

  • Exploring opportunities for regional cooperation and collaboration with regional organizations including the APrIGF community, APNIC, APTLD, ISOC, and APSIG
  • Reaching out to potential ALSes and individual members in the Pacific Rim region. Any Russian contacts will be handed over to EURALO for further processing
  • Providing outreach services for increasing awareness on APRALO and the ICANN At-Large, leading to the formation of ALSes in underserved regions
  • Interacting with other regional and sub-regional organizations and community representatives to consider joint programmes in domains such as technical outreach and capacity building
  • Sounding out APrIGF MAG on the possibility of collaboration for convening APRALO General Assembly jointly with APrIGF in future
  • Participating in discussions on the state of the Internet in the APAC Region, and address the challenges and opportunities in bringing in the next Billion from the region
  • Participating in workshops and sessions in order to present perspectives on ICANN and At-Large topics relevant to the region (eg., IDNs and Universal Acceptance which is relevant to both local Russian organizations as well as Asia-Pacific)

Proposed Outcomes:

  1. Opportunity to update the local and APAC community about APRALO and ICANN At-Large activities and strategic objectives
  2. Raised awareness of APRALO and its activities and involvements among other regional groups and identify potential ALSes and individual members
  3. Increased networking with APrIGF leaders and MAG Members, particularly since we are exploring holding the APRALO General Assembly together with APrIGF around 2022.
  4. A report to APRALO and CROP recording important interventions, interactions and feedback during our networking sessions during the week.

Apart from Satish, two other APRALO LT Members (Maureen and Lianna) are likely to participate at APrIGF 2019 with independent funding. The presence of three members of the APRALO LT will help to set up the strategic links that APRALO is seeking to set up with APrIGF for co-locating its GA in 2022.
