Our mission at Connecting.nyc Inc. is to advance the quality of city life through the development of the .nyc TLD as a public interest resource. We do so through research, public education, and participation in industry activities. In 2012 we enhanced our mission by joining with ICANN as part of its At-Large Structure. And in 2015 we were granted special consultative status at the United Nations (we're an NGO) with the intent of advancing cities understanding of the utility of TLDs.
