Purpose of APF Call

This APRALO Policy Forum Call is intended to facilitate an understanding and discussion of the impact of the Phase 2 Preliminary Recommendations of the GNSO Expedited Policy Development Process on Internationalized Domain Names ( IDNs-EPDP ). Presenter Satish Babu will elaborate on the EPDP's Phase 2 Charter Questions which includes consideration of the IDN Implementation Guidelines. While this EPDP's Phase 2 work focuses predominantly on variant management at the second level, Satish will necessarily refer, by way of applicability and comparison, to principles developed under Phase 1 which guide the policy recommendations for variant management at the top level, as contained in the IDNs-EPDP Phase 1 Final Report.Satish is, currently, one of 3 members of the ALAC Team to the IDNs-EPDP and has been serving as the ALAC's appointed member to this EPDP since May 2021.issues and questions raised by the ICANN Board by way of a community consultation around Public Interest Commitments/Registry Voluntary Commitments.  As previewed on 21 Nov 2023, the ICANN Board has initiated this community consultation in late Dec 2023 to gather input on their Draft Implementation Framework for Content-Related Registry Commitments. 

Justine Chew, in her capacity as the ALAC-appointed Representative to the Subsequent Procedures (New gTLD Program Next Round) Implementation Review Team (SubPro IRT) and the Former At-Large Liaison for Subsequent Procedures, will lead the discussion with APRALO Policy Forum (APF) Members. 

The goal of the call is to build the capacity of APF Members who wish to participate in formulating APRALO's contributions to the larger discussion at the At-Large Consolidated Policy Working Group (CPWG) designed to develop ALAC/At-Large's input to the ICANN Board's request for input.

As such, it is highly recommended that APF Members review the following prior to this APF Call:
