10) Proposed Goals and Outcomes: Content Guidelines (click here) | After reviewing the NARALO CROP Plans for FY 18, I certainly see that is very aligned with my role at my organization, and what we do. For example, HETS focuses on promoting the innovative use of technology to support access to higher education, and the use of the Internet is essential on this. Also, HETS is constituted by affiliated postsecondary institutions in the United States and Puerto Rico, and together our members have more than 28,000 faculty members and over half a million students, of which approximately 60% are Hispanic. Our mission is to promote, support, and increase the capabilities of member institutions to enhance Hispanic/Latino student success and opportunities by: providing training and support for faculty, staff, and students from member institutions; and facilitating, promoting, and nurturing strategic alliances among HETS members and the academic, government, and corporate sectors, among others strategies. That is why, this active participation in NARALO meetings and events is fundamental, and we can serve as a liaison between HETS member institutions and NARALO Also, we have collaborated with our colleagues here in Puerto Rico in coordinating educational events to increase the awareness of the ICANN ecosystem, promoting an active involvement, and fellowships opportunities, and we are planning to continue this collaboration.
Furthermore, I believe that my deliverables and objectives for the ARIN event in California can support the NARALO Community priorities suggestions to do outreach, and also increase the engagement of current and new ALSes in NARALO. One of my objectives will be to learn more and network with key leaders at the ARIN event to be able to continue promoting and coordinating events to educate about ICANN, At Large, and NARALO issues. Another objective will be get new people involved, since HETS has key contacts in universities and colleges located at different States, including Mass, Cal. NC, NY, and CO, where no representatives have been identified. A third objective will be to continue supporting the efforts of ISOC PR for the first North American School of Internet Governance, and promote this efforts among our HETS members to benefit from this opportunity. Finally, my goal to attend and participate of this meeting is to learn and explore new ways to support NARALO priorities.
11) Additional Information (optional): | In terms of the attributes of participants suggested on the NARALO CROP Plans for FY 18, I believed that I have a positive attitude to proactive marketing. Also, my 18 years working with HETS had help me to be focused and purposeful. Although I am not fully aware of the ICANN ecosystem, an expert in core NARALO/ICANN issues, I am willing to learn and be able to present to an audience, conduct interviews, among other activities. Also, I understand the importance of social media reporting and prompt reporting of event and follow up, since both are key strategies of my day to day work. We already have published news and sent email campaigns to more than 4,000 contact in our databases with information regarding ICANN meetings and opportunities, and we are able to continue supporting in any way possible.
