This event is intended to leverage ICANN resources to achieve elements of the BC outreach goals specified in the BC Outreach Strategic Plan (see https://community.icann.org/display/croppfy16/BC+Outreach+Strategic+Plan). The objective of this Summit is to explore innovative ways of moving the continent beyond the WSIS goals through the application of appropriate policies, profitable investment and good governance using Information and Communication Technologies. BC participation in this event will allow current BC members to participate in the summit sharing their views about issues of importance to Summit attendees and demonstrating BC leadership on these issues. ICANN support will be used to sponsor attendance at the event and it is hoped that the BC presence, attendance, participation and networking opportunities will lead to new membership and further regional interest in the BC.

Informational Note From CROPP Staff:

  • This is the first instance where an ICANN community group has availed itself of the CROPP engagement event program option. In this instance, staff offered to assist BC Leadership to enter the BC Outreach Strategy Plan on the community wiki page.
  • Some of the submission dates in this workspace appear to be out of order due to the timing of proposals, but all were authorized by CROPP operational staff.
  • The BC FY16 Outreach Strategy was submitted by community leadership via e-mail on 13 August 2015.
  • The original event proposal was received by staff via e-mail on 18 July 2015.
  • At the time of the proposal the BC Outreach Strategy Plan had not been officially approved by the BC, but that took place before the event was scheduled.
  • This event proposal was reviewed and approved by Jimson Olufuye on 11 September 2015.

If you have any questions about this proposal or the activity in general please contact cropp-staff@icann.org
