Work Track 5
Current Status:
Work Track 5 held a session at ICANN61 on Wednesday 14 March. In the session, the Work Track continued with substantive deliberations that have taken place in recent meetings and leveraged the face-to-face format to encourage additional input from the wider community. Discussions during this session focused on the future treatment of the following:
• Alpha-3 codes listed in the ISO 3166-1 standard • Long-form names listed in the ISO 3166-standard, or a translation of the long-form name in any language • Short-form names listed in the ISO 3166-standard, or a translation of the short-form name in any language
A transcript of the discussion is available here. The “working document” used to track deliberations also reflects a summary of key points raised during this session.
Next Steps:
Work Track 5 had a meeting on 4 April, which will be summarized in the next newsletter. WT5 has a meeting on 18 April.

As Thomas knows, I have my differences with this philosophy. If there was a proposal for a dot-Toronto I would be first in line to oppose it, especially if it asked for public money.
