Project LAC Digital is a meeting for dialogue and exchange of ideas between Civil  Society  Governments and Academia

LAC Digital is a meeting for dialogue and exchange of ideas between “Civil society”, “Governments and Academia” aimed at discussing and sharing issues related to the Internet, connectivity, domain names and numbers within the framework of human rights, diversity and equitable access.

The main objective of LAC Digital is to facilitate inclusive and productive debates on public policy issues related to the Internet from a general perspective, keeping these 3 segments “Civil society”, Governments” and “Academia” involved within the wide range of possibilities that the multi-stakeholder model has to offer. LAC Digital has among its goals the interaction of Civil Society, Governments and Academia to ensure that Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and the Internet support and help implement the "2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development" (Resolution approved by the United Nations General Assembly on September 25, 2015).

This event will commemorate the  International Internet and Telecommunications Day.  It is expected that the event will be celebrated every year. The Event is scheduled to take place over three days (May 17, 18, 19) with participation in several meetings lasting 1 hour and a half, where thematic axes will be developed, namely.

Time: 19 UTC

Duration 2 hrs with 10 mins break

Languages: Interpretation: EN, ES, PT, FR

1) Thematic Panels:

a) Internet as essential Public service and the Global Public interest

b) Universal Acceptance and IDNs

c) Internet Infrastructure and access to underserved and rural areas.

 After the presentation of the panelists there will be a time for debate with attendees.

The panels will include several governments, representatives of end-user organizations, and Academia from the LACRALO regions.

Diálogo en latinoamérica y Caribe en clave Tic’s

LAC Digital es un encuentro de diálogo e intercambio de ideas entre sociedad civil, gobiernos y academia tendiente a discutir y poner en común aquellos temas vinculados a Internet, conectividad, nombres y números de dominio en el marco de los derechos humanos, la diversidad y el acceso equitativo.

Objectivo

El objetivo principal de LAC Digital es facilitar debates inclusivos y productivos sobre cuestiones de política pública relacionadas con Internet desde una perspectiva general, manteniendo involucrados a estos tres segmentos entre el amplio abanico de posibilidades que tiene el modelo de múltiples partes interesadas.

LAC Digital tiene entre sus metas la interacción de Sociedad Civil, Gobiernos y Academia para asegurar que las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (TIC) e Internet respalden y ayuden a implementar la “Agenda 2030 para el Desarrollo Sostenible” (Resolución aprobada por la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas el 25 de septiembre de 2015).

 Este evento se realizará para conmemorar  el 17 de Mayo Día Internacional de Internet y las Telecomunicaciones.

Se prevé realizarlo todos los años en la misma fecha.

El Evento está planteado en desarrollarse en tres días 17, 18, 19 May ( con participación en varios encuentros de 1 Hora y media de duración, donde se desarrollaran ejes temáticos a saber (por ahora tentativos):

a) Internet como servicio público esencial y el Interés público global

b) Aceptación Universal

c) infraestructura y acceso a en zonas rurales y poblaciones desprotegidas

Está previsto que luego de la exposición de los panelistas se abra un tiempo para el debate con los participantes de cada uno de los encuentros.

Los paneles incluirán en cada uno varios gobiernos, varios representantes de organizaciones de usuarios finales y academia.
