Amrita Choudhury:Hi Everyone
Kelvin Wong:Dear all, we'll be starting the Q&A/discussion session after Yannis' sharing. Please feel free to ask questions of the speakers or on a topic in general. You can speak on the mic or through the chat space here.
Amrita Choudhury:Question: Thank you for updating on the ICANN, APRALO, APrIGF participation at IGF 2017. It was helpful. My question is related to participation or rather low participation from the APAC region at IGF 2016 as compared to Europe or America. Even the submission of workshops from this region were not many. Is ICANN/ APRALO looking at encuraging and boosting participation both of people and number of workshops from this region at IGF 2017? It could be in the form of mentoring community members while drafting workshops or even providing fellowship to attend IGF.
Shreedeep Rayamajhi:Asia Pacifc is very different in terms of economies and concerning the level of development and reality is the next billiion in comming from AP, so is there any long term planning
Amrita Choudhury:Thank You Satish and Kelvin.
Yannis Li:Indeed I think some of the times might be helpful from the APAC-Hub/APRALO is to help with connecting good speakers for those who want to oragnize a panel
Yannis Li:a workshop*, not necessarily a panel
Amrita Choudhury:For capacity building and to encourage more workshops and participation - do you think it makes sense to have some kind of session in APrIGF or even webinar on how sessions should be drafted
Maureen Hilyard:The huge attendance at the APrIGF meeting was an indication of an increase in participation in workshops etc
Yannis Li:We do have a guideline coming up. And currently IGF indeed does have a thorough FAQ now as well.
Aris Ignacio:APrIGF was very successful in terms of attendance.. especially the invlovement of the youth
Cheryl Langdon-Orr (CLO):and of course to add to tthe úse'of the APrIGF we need to foster the use of Local/National initiatives as feeder and capacity building opportunities for both...
Maureen Hilyard:+1 Cheryl
Shreedeep Rayamajhi:APRIGF proposal gudlines are there
Yannis Li:There was an emphasis too in the NRIs discussion that it's important to link up no only the NRIs but the relevant policy processes. Hence ICANN of coz is one of them
Peng Hwa ANG:Fully supported Cheryl! :)
Cheryl Langdon-Orr (CLO):for my sins years ago I was a founder in the trust and trade building model run under the auspices of UNCTAD love to play again in tht field
