Trip Assessment Form

1) Describe how the original Purpose and Goals were accomplished:

The outreach effort was continu during the whole period of the event trying to find interested people from the civil society organizations to explain them the interest for them to join AFRALO, and explaining the procedure to apply for certification as At-Large Structure. During the coffee and lunch breaks, I always try to make the involvment in ICANN work attractive. Because I was panelist in 2 sessions (full rooms), people were more interested and came to me asking questions which gave me another opportunity to make the necessary outreach.

Also, I made a power point presentation about the available 2015 leadership positions in ICANN and explained the procedure to apply or recommand someone. I insisted on the fact that very few good applications from Africa were received by the NomCom, and that if we want the African voice to be well heard, we need to find very good African condidates and encourage them to apply. A flyer was distributed in the room and put on the registration desk with all the details of the 2015 NomCom positions.

2) Describe how the original Outcomes were achieved:

  1. The visibility for ICANN and AFRALO was reached by my outreach effort and also by my active participation in the event under AFRALO ICANN label
  2. We should receive several ALS applications (at least 2) in the AFRALO region in the upcoming months
  3. The African internet community was well informed about the available 2015 NomCom positions for Africa
  4. Several potential candidates were identified, and now, an effort should be deployed to convince them to apply.
3) Date Completed:24-Dec-2014
4) Additional information pertaining to this outreach event (optional):I also participated in the Africa Strategy review, and made a detailed proposal for a NewGen program for Marrakech meeting in 2016
