Glenn McKnight: text chat

Joly MacFie: There is no audio i the Adobe AFAIK

Glenn McKnight: Got voice now

Joly MacFie: good

Glenn McKnight: Which topic?

Joly MacFie: ALAC Statement on Proposed PDP Policy (I think)

Glenn McKnight: Evan jumped to the scorecard

Marilyn Vernon: Seth Reiss has joined

Seth Reiss: Had not realized that the time had changed.  Sorry

Evan Leibovitch: Sth: The (local) time hasn't changed, but the UTC time has because of daylight savings AFAIK

Olivier Crepin-Leblond: Seth - could you please take note of Joly's question so we check where the recording is?

Joly MacFie: Thanks Olivier.

Seth Greene: Absolutely, Olivier and Joly.

Eric Brunner-Williams: howdy all

Evan Leibovitch: hi eric

Olivier Crepin-Leblond: thanks Seth

Olivier Crepin-Leblond: Hey Eric

Eric Brunner-Williams: that restriction is for the officer standing, not membership

Evan Leibovitch: we have a good bunch of shooters :-)

Eric Brunner-Williams: audio aso

Eric Brunner-Williams: also

Eric Brunner-Williams: i don't think the restriction is particularly harmful, if expanded to the rest of the ralo leadership

Eric Brunner-Williams: i'd like to see (na)ralo express a preference for cultural and linguistic (idn included) applicants, and make a distinction between these and generic/ppc/brand/... for-profit exploits

Joly MacFie: I would go along with that

Eric Brunner-Williams: i'd also like to see an awareness of things that create cost, and favor incumbent platform operator

Alan Greenberg: How do I learn to be one of those40??

Eric Brunner-Williams: become a communist???

Gordon Chillcott: That is the better argument.

Alan Greenberg: I don't disagree with Eric, but I was focusing more on the ability rather the the SL commitments that are after-the-fact.

Eric Brunner-Williams: i just ran out of phone power, lost audio

Joly MacFie: I like this from .nyc POV, as it is more likely that the such a tld might be be community-based rather than standard

Eric Brunner-Williams: well ... if the new york city doitt selects verisign/neustar it has a platform, and independent of what its policies are (community or standard) it will have no scarcity of resources issues.

Joly MacFie: I was thinking of your earlier point

Joly MacFie: but I know it would be an argument against - in that it would give community based applications for the same string an unfair advantage

Eric Brunner-Williams: additionally, if the protection of cities (my advocacy before and at cartagena) is adopted, then the application for .nyc will not need to be made with the restrictions of "community" (14/16 and the restrictions on registration of people from jersy consequences)

Joly MacFie: do you think there's any chance of that?

Eric Brunner-Williams: did alac ever sign off on public applications going only when (or after) private applications ?

Eric Brunner-Williams: yes i do.

Eric Brunner-Williams: gac is committed to protection of non-capital cities, imo

Olivier Crepin-Leblond: that is an excellent guide!

Eric Brunner-Williams: now back on audio

Beau Brendler: sorry, I got disconnected

Beau Brendler: and disconnected a second time

Beau Brendler: now back
