Translate NomCom materials to improve international understanding of NomCom processes and outcomes.
- Summary of ICANN’s assessment of implementation including actions taken, implementability and effectiveness
NomCom Fact Sheet/Flyer is already being translated into UN languages (http://nomcom.icann.org/). Additional core NomCom documents, ICANN bylaws, is also translated. Staff believes that generic translation tools would be more effective for all other NomCom communications and materials than certified translations.
In terms of translating into more languages services are limited by available funding.

Community is generally in favor of translation into more languages. The six UN languages seen a to restricted a set. As a global community, ICANN should look at models, such a the EU, where translation service are provided to over 20 languages.

Complete but remains In Progress – the work has not been completed and is ongoing.
The efforts being made by the small translation group are seen as very promising and show a steady improvement. The situation is far improved.
So much more, however, needs to be done. Additional consideration is required to cover other ICANN community languages. As a global supporting organization, ICANN requires a larger langauge service that can deliver translations in a greater number of languages in a timely manner.
