Olivier Crepin-Leblond: Action Items from our last call: https://community.icann.org/display/CPMMB/CCWG+on+IG+Teleconference+-+2016.04.29+-+Action+Items

Gangesh Varma: yes

marilyn Cade: apologies to be late but am now online

matthew shears: + 1 marilyn on using the presentation segment

marilyn Cade: The NRIs would welcome this video as a factual briefing.

Young-eum: +1 especially on the Youtube presentation

Olivier Crepin-Leblond: I am sorry I was dropped

Olivier Crepin-Leblond: back

NIGEL HICKSON: @Marilyn - thanks

NIGEL HICKSON: Kluas, Marilyn and I - was good fun

marilyn Cade: yes - Klaus, Nigel, Marilyn, Lori, probably others that I am missing..

marilyn Cade: CSTD report should be seen as having two parallel issues

matthew shears: would be useful to understand the linkages between the WSIS resolution and the related rsolution worked on in the CSTD

marilyn Cade: STIs are critically important and should not be dismised

marilyn Cade: welcome having some govts who were also at the  CSTD

NIGEL HICKSON: see meeting details at http://unctad.org/en/pages/MeetingDetails.aspx?meetingid=1048

matthew shears: yes, there is no place for exhaustion

Avri Doria: Commenters are only allowed after all others have spoken, which is often tooo late to change anything.

NIGEL HICKSON: The Group is open to all MS as "Observers" but there is a difference in status between member and non-members.

marilyn Cade: To Matthew comment: never leave the field

marilyn Cade: And also, there is an effort to try to have open attendance, and transcripts and webcasting

Avri Doria: but still sperate tracks.

marilyn Cade: Nigel: while I hear you, I personally find that there is little difference in status of all who attend.

Avri Doria: so still a fools errand?

marilyn Cade: We need to show up, however, and not be negative in my personal view.

Avri Doria: of course no, we need to postive, smile nicely and hope they give us some crumbs.

marilyn Cade: Last WG documented what the status was, but that was to do a gap analysis. Might be history. starting over

matthew shears: i don't think that we should be revinenting the mapping - perhapos taking it forward or shifting the discussion to more productive and useful discussion of EC

Young-eum: will use text.

marilyn Cade: I appreciate that the CCWG-IG is following, but wonder if we might even plan for a more detailed briefing, as the WG gets started -- so future?

marilyn Cade: Matthew, exactly

Avri Doria: dont get me wrong.  i was a fool last time.  and owuld have been a fool again if acceptad.  but as long as it remians on seperate tracks, it will go around in circles.

marilyn Cade: There was also language about IGF

Young-eum: I'm just wondering if the composition of the members of this group

Avri Doria: One can be postive about  a resolutuon but be critical of parts of that resolution at the same time.

Young-eum: is any different from the previous group, and if this is the reason why Marilyn is more concerned.

Avri Doria: We stakeholders are not part of deciding on this reslutions, so they are something we are entitled to be somewhat critical of.

matthew shears: observers played a key role last time - agree with their importance

marilyn Cade: yes, to Matthew, while not a member, we did listen to observers.

Paul Blaker: http://unctad.org/Sections/un_cstd/docs/CSTD_2016_WorkingGroup_en.pdf

marilyn Cade: and in fact, they are quite important.

Olivier Crepin-Leblond: That's great @Paul - thank you

Paul Blaker: this is the link to the composition of the Working Group

marilyn Cade: I appreciate this, as I was sitting in the room, and  thankfully, govts were listening and even welcoming, but we were not yet allowed as full speakers.

marilyn Cade: but ICANN is not more important than other entities, such as IEEE, or ISOC, or business speakers, or APC..

Avri Doria: of coure not, it was an example!

Timea Suto: Thank you Olivier, I have some technical diffculties so can't connect to speak

marilyn Cade: It is unfortunate that not everyone was able to stay until the full end, but Nigel and I were there utntil the end...

marilyn Cade: May I

Olivier Crepin-Leblond: @Timea: no problem. Feel free to type comments here too

marilyn Cade: not draft, but approved by ECOSOC in July.

marilyn Cade: I will need to recuse myself as I am a MAG member, and I see that also ICC-BASIS and a few others are MAG members, so we need to recuse ourselves.

marilyn Cade: Dec 6-10

Avri Doria: also recused, but one role MAG members do have is being able to advise on elements, if asked.

marilyn Cade: Yes, to Avri's comment. I agree that a session is useful, but cannot contribute

Avri Doria: you can have up to 3 proposals.

Avri Doria: and ater there will opportunities fro things such as fflash sessions &c.

Avri Doria: the call for those thingies comes out later, if i am rembering correctly.

matthew shears: have to drop apologies

Young-eum: Agree with post transition ICANN IGF session.

marilyn Cade: dropping off but I did see Timea posting. did her comments get included?

Timea Suto: @Marilyn, was just sharing the dates for IGF, but you were faster :)

marilyn Cade: One comment: the MAG meets later today and personlly, I am not suporting an extension in workshops, so urge awareness of the deaddline

marilyn Cade: re WTSA 2016: ICANN Hydebad? is that public announcement of change for location of ICANN 57?

marilyn Cade: I agree with Paul's comments about WTSA2016.

Alan Greenberg: Have another call. bye

marilyn Cade: each region has a consultion process, perhaps we should send members off to their regional consultations.

marilyn Cade: Nigel, if we send members of CCWG IG to their governments to ask to join the regional preps?

Paul Blaker: http://www.itu.int/en/ITU-T/wtsa16/prepmeet/Pages/default.aspx

Paul Blaker: This is the list of regional prep meetings

Olivier Crepin-Leblond: Thansk Paul

marilyn Cade: engaging with individual govts is essential.

Ffion Thomas: Mailyn, I agree, it would be helpful to have more people at the various regional meetings.

marilyn Cade: but each govt can share with their own stakeholders.

Sam Lanfranco: The WTSA this fall ends the day ICANN Helsinki starts!!!

Avri Doria: bye

Gangesh Varma: thanks all.

Timea Suto: Thank you all! Goodbye!
