FINAL DRAFT VERSION TO BE VOTED UPON BY THE ALAC

The final draft version to be voted upon by the ALAC will be placed here before the vote is to begin.

Submitted by Alan Greenberg, 30 July 2018

The ALAC appreciates the opportunity to comment on the Initial Report on the Protections for Certain Red Cross Names in all gTLDs – Policy Amendment Process.

The ALAC has always taken the position that as a humanitarian organization, and one that has been regularly the target of those seeking to fraudulently attract donations, the Red Cross should be afforded the courtesy of having its various identifiers protected at the second level in gTLD domain names.

The current process recommends additional protection in this area and the recommendations are supported by the ALAC.

DRAFT SUBMITTED FOR DISCUSSION

The first draft submitted will be placed here before the call for comments begins. The Draft should be preceded by the name of the person submitting the draft and the date/time. If, during the discussion, the draft is revised, the older version(S) should be left in place and the new version along with a header line identifying the drafter and date/time should be placed above the older version(s), separated by a Horizontal Rule (available + Insert More Content control).

  1. I support the drafted statement also. And I am particularly gratified to see that the recommendations cover not only the currently identified list of 191 Red Cross National Societies and the full names of the International Committee of the Red Cross and International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, but also reinforces the recognition for a need to allow for future error corrections, additions to and deletions of any entries in the definitive list of reserved names and their agreed variants but which can be made only in accordance with the developed criteria.

  2. Agree with the statement. Especially implementing criteria to secure identifiers at the second level in gTLD domain names.

  3. Had a chance to review and I concur.
