Trinidad and Tobago Computer Society (TTCS)

The Trinidad and Tobago Computer Society (TTCS) is a computer user group based in Trinidad. Formed in 1997, our goals are to :

  • Be an informal forum where computers, related technologies and related social issues can be discussed.
  • Keep current with the events in the local Information Technology (IT) and telecommunications industries.
  • “Network local computer users” so that they can share knowledge and improve upon their experiences with modern technology.

Membership in the Trinidad and Tobago Computer Society is open to anyone interested in computers, regardless of what computer hardware or software you use, or how much computer experience you have, or what job you have or whether you are still studying.

The TTCS is active in:

  • Policy development on ICT related issues. We have submitted comments on many government ICT related policies in Trinidad and Tobago since 2000 .
  • ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names & Numbers) as an At-large Structure. The primary ALS representative was a founding member of LACRALO and from 2009 to 2012 served as LACRALO secretariat and serving as an member of the ALAC from 2012 to l 2014.
  • Creation of the TTCS OSSWIN Disc at http://www.ttcsweb.org/osswin-dvd/, a collection of free and Open Source software for the Windows platform which we distribute online. There have been more than 500,000 downloads over the last 4 years.
  • Software Freedom Day - a global annual in September event to highlight the benefits of Free and Open Source Software. Our Software Freedom Day events in 2007, 2008 and 2009 received a "highly commended" award from Software Freedom International out of 500 international teams.
