The 'Network' feature provides notifications on the activity of users that you choose to follow. The types of activities include:

  • Additions or edits to pages or blog posts.

  • Updates to a user's Profile.

You can enable networking by selecting an individual's name from the right side of this page or by clicking on Follow when you mouse over another user's picture.

Status Updates

The 'User Status' feature allows any Confluence user to broadcast a short message rapidly, which other users can see on various activity streams throughout Confluence. These short messages could include:

  • A description about what you are working on.
  • A question you may want answered quickly.
  • A hyperlink that you share immediately with other users.
  • Any other message you may want to share quickly with other users.

To set or update your User Status:

This page in your User Profile displays a list of all pages, spaces, and blogs you have marked as a Favorite by clicking the (star) icon which can be found in two places:

  1. When you click on any of the top level tabs (categories), you will see a list of spaces. Clicking on a star icon will mark the space as a Favorite.
  2. From any page or blog within a space, click on the Tools menu and, in the drop-down menu, click the Favorites icon.

You can deselect any page, space, or blog as a Favorite by clicking the star icon (changes color from orange to gray).

Pages marked as Favorite will also appear in your Dashboard (top left tab option).

Watches

The Watches page in your User Profile displays a list of all pages, spaces, and blogs you have marked to be informed (e.g., via email) of any changes to the content.

To manage your Watches:

  1. Go to the Watches view for your user profile, as follows:

    • You can also click on the Watches tab from the Profile menu.

Drafts

The Drafts page in your User Profile displays a list of all pages that you are currently editing.

A Draft is a 'snapshot' of unsaved page content, which Confluence creates automatically at regular intervals while you are editing a page or blog post. This can minimize lost productivity if your Internet connection is lost before you save your work. You can retrieve page content from your last saved Draft in this section.

Settings

Click on your Name (upper right of screen) and select Settings from the drop-down menu or use the tab at the top of the Profile screen.

Click Edit at the bottom of the page which will make it possible to alter four settings:

    1. At the top of this screen, by selecting from the drop-down list of Spaces, you may change the default Home Page that opens when you login to Confluence.
    2. The second block allows you to change preferred Language (automatic is usually the best setting).
    3. You may also change the Time Zone, as appropriate to your location.
    4. Check the box to enable Keyboard Shortcuts (e.g., a "k" on any screen provides links that can be copied/pasted).

On the left menu, click Email, then Edit to adjust the settings used to determine how you will be notified by Confluence when various updates occur. Each option contains a brief description as to how that particular option operates. (Note: You should not need to reset the Editor function unless you are an advanced user).
