_This is one of the big issues in all of ICANN at the moment. At-Large has taken the lead in the formal process which can begin a Policy Development Process at the GNSO by requesting an Issues Report, which was released on 25th May. This article in CNN.com profiles some of those making vast fortunes in the secondary market for domains and through domain tasting and "typosquatting" and is a recommended read.
SSAC Report: Renewal Considerations for Domain Name Registrants
Whilst this report deals with a number of subjects other than simply domain tasting, it is an excellent guide to the circumstances under which a domain may be lost to the original registrant and why, and is recommended reading.
