GNSO Working Session San Jose 2012-03-11

09:00 - 09:30 - Introduction to the revised GNSO Policy Development Process

*What is it about:*In December 2011, the ICANN Board adopted, on the recommendation of the GNSO Council, the revised GNSO Policy Development Process. This session is targeted to introduce the revised GNSO PDP and explain its new features in detail.

Background information: The GNSO Policy Development Process is the process by which the GNSO develops DNS related policies. As part of GNSO Improvements, the PDP Working Team (WT) was tasked to review the existing GNSO PDP with the objective to improve inclusiveness and representativeness in the GNSO's work while increasing its effectiveness and efficiency. As a result, the PDP-WT presented the GNSO Council with a new Annex A of the ICANN Bylaws and a PDP Manual, which were subsequently adopted by the GNSO Council and the ICANN Board. The revised PDP will apply to all PDPs initiated from now on and, in addition, the GNSO Council decided that all ongoing PDPs should be transitioned to the revised PDP.
