Regardless of your experience or engagement to date in APRALO or previous General Assemblies (GA), programs or events, each participant in the 2023 APRALO-GA should expect to:- 

  • Identify personal and/or ALS focus areas (Policy, Operations, Leadership skills, training and course development, outreach and engagement activities, capacity building etc.,).
  • Expand and increase participation in ICANN and APRALO activities.
  • Explore communication and collaboration styles that best suit the ‘ICANN At-Large journey’.
  • Extend an APAC Regional Peer Network and develop a cadre or trust/buddy group for use in future ICANN activities.
  • Evolve / Create a suitable / Review a current ICANN At-Large profile.
  • Establish short and medium-term planning for personal and professional development and aims for my ‘ICANN At-Large path’ (stepping stones and options)
  • Enhance understanding of the Multistakeholder model of ICANN and At-Large.
  • Understand Accountability and Transparency in an ICANN context.

What APRALO expects from you, is to:-

  • Fully engage with the preparatory activities outlined in this documentation and promulgated from time to time by the 2023 APRALO-GA Organizing Committee and Leadership Team.  As well as reach out to staff@atlarge.icann.org if you are finding any challenges or difficulties doing so.
  • Be a present and active listener who contributes thoughtfully to an active conversation and treats other people attending with kindness and their views with respect in all of the activities and interactions during and leading up to the event.
  • Prepare and share an ALS or personal ‘ICANN APRALO Action Plan’ outlining intended ‘next steps’ for 2024-2025 this will be aspirational and not treated as performance indicators but will inform future metrics.
  • Map out a ‘stepping stone’ pathway for your ICANN APRALO journey over the next 3-5 years.
  • Commit to an ongoing contribution to ICANN APRALO and our Continuous Improvement Programming post-2023 APRALO-GA with a ‘say what you’re going to do and then do it’ approach.
  • Commit to creating opportunities for your community, your ALS Membership or your cohort to discourse and cooperation to advocate for individual end-user interests.
  • Understand the importance of and intent of the Regions ALS and UIM mobilization plan and assist where possible and practical in its implementation.
