Dear members of the ALAC At-Large Review Implementation Working Group (ARIWG),
On behalf of the OEC, I would like to thank you for the submission of the second At-Large Review Implementation Status Report. The OEC would like to congratulate the ARIWG for the speed and diligence of its implementation work. The committee agrees that the thorough overview meets the requirements to update the Board and the community of the ongoing implementation process. Since the acceptance of progress reports do not require formal Board action, this note serves as acknowledgment of receipt as well as confirmation that the report meets all of the committee’s requirements.
The OEC is looking forward to receiving the next progress report by 30 June 2020. For that next iteration, the OEC would like to make the following suggestions to further improve the ARIWG’s reporting:
The table of Issue 2 notes that implementation ‘may require some ICANN Bylaws amendments’. The report does not detail which Bylaws might need changing and what the anticipated timeframe may be and the committee encourages the ARIWG to include more details in its next report.
Issue 4 shows a very helpful Organogram of the At-Large structure. Since improved transparency on travel support is also part of the Report (Issue 13), it could be useful, for ease of reference, to indicate in the Organigram which of the various positions receive travel support. This could be done for the third iteration of the Organigram with the addition of an asterisk or similar. Also, the OEC suggests to include the ALAC-appointed Board Director on the next version of the Organigram. The committee is aware that he/she is not directly part of the At-Large structure but for the wider community it may be useful to include this to have the full picture.
