The Localization Toolkit was project to provide a basic set of tools for the AP Region Community to reach out to their wider Community (constituencies, colleagues, and fiends) about ICANN. It was very successful and resulted several regions using the tools to moving ahead with language translation of community outreach material not currently supported by ICANN.  ICANN Language Services team has adopted this Localization Toolkit and will continue the basic support while enabling a broader reach of languages and materials to the regions  

Basic Support 

While ICANN materials and updates are normally translated in the 6 official UN languages and Portuguese, we recognize these languages do not fully cater to all of the languages within the various regional markets. In this regard and the spirit of multi-stakeholder model, AP Region jointly developed the original Toolkit with KISA to reach out to the diverse AP community in each of their respective local languages.  The toolkit serves as a basic set of ICANN materials for your use to reach out to your community members and stakeholders  

Whichever stakeholder group you may be from in ICANN - technical community, business, government, civil society, or simply an individual internet user - if you share ICANN's core values to maintain a free and interoperable Internet, and want to share this important work with your community members/stakeholders, this for you. Thank you for being an ambassador of ICANN!

Reaching Out to your Local Community

Once you have selected the appropriate materials and translated them for your event or community, you can use them for your own event or market. Please make sure to provide the materials to ICANN LS team so we can post them for the benefit o the entire community.  You can contact Localizationkit@icann.org or just e-mail your materials, the event, event venue and language they were provided in.
