Media  Advisory  Abstract 

 

NARALO Showcase  is scheduled for  Wednesday October  15, 2014 and it's  a community celebration inviting the ICANN  community to learn more about the achievements of NARALO which is one of the five  RALO's  in the ALAC family. 

The  evening  will showcase  how  NARALO is  striving  to engage those disadvantaged groups in North America and the  American protectorate states,  which includes  the First Nations/Native and the Disabled communities  Learn more at the event  about NARALO's  outreach strategies  to engage these groups as  important  stakeholders.   An  evening promises to be  a great opportunity for  of networking and  story telling  followed with  refreshments  sourced from  local vineyards and eatries.

The event  will start with an opportunity to meet and greet  NARALO membership and interact with the sponsors at  our  display tables 

The keynote  speaker  will be  Jacqueline Johnson Pata is the Executive Director of NCAI. She is a member of the Raven/Sockeye Clan of the Tlingit Tribe (pronounced – Kling-get) and a member of the Central Council of the Tlingit-Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska. Mrs. Pata was the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Native American Programs of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) during the Clinton Administration.  She  will be  speaking on broadband strategies and connectivity issues in Indian Country.

The  sponsors  of the event will have  a  dedicated  table display  suitable  for  literature and your company banner, company graphic on the  invitations and on the  website   plus a short time slot at the podium during the  speeches.

Speakers

Jacqueline Johnson Pata is the Executive Director of NCAI. She is a member of the Raven/Sockeye Clan of the Tlingit Tribe (pronounced – Kling-get) and a member of the Central Council of the Tlingit-Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska. Among her other activities, prior to her move to Washington, D.C., she is extremely proud of her service for 13 years as Director of a Native Youth Culture Camp held each summer where young people experience and learn traditional values.

She empowers students with disabilities to become better self-advocates, and teaches families and educators to set high expectations.During her time as a student, Business Insider ranked her among the 21 Most Impressive Students at Harvard Law School, and the White House recognized her as a Champion of Change. Haben currently serves as a Skadden Fellowship Attorney at Disability Rights Advocates, a non-profit law firm dedicated to protecting the rights of people with disabilities around the country. As a member of DRA’s team in Berkeley, California, Haben works to improve access to education for students with disabilities.
