10) Proposed Goals and Outcomes: Content Guidelines (click here) | Considered as a favored international platform for promoting ICT products and services in the black continent, the African Internet Summit (AIS) in Dakar focuses on a dual challenge. On the one hand, it aims at training through capacity building and adoption of policies on Internet services offered. On the other hand, the summit will lead to a high level of capacity building for African engineers and technicians in administration, civil society ICT, academia and private sector, to name just a few. Moreover, the African Internet Summit is a flagship event that brings together organizations involved in the Internet governance and coordination. In other to achieve the above goal, the main objective in participating in AIS'18 will be to fasten contacts with the Internet governance community of the West Africa subregion, including the end-user community. The first immediate objective will therefore be to invite them in order link them with AFRALO. Ultimately, these contacts should contribute to establish one or more SLOs as well as one or more individual members of Senegal and the sub-region. Secondly, the summit will enable the internet community to support the efforts of sensitization and to raise awareness of local AFRALO ALS members. It will also help them promote the ICANN process in universities and colleges. The third objective will be to introduce the AFRALO community to the present community through communication sessions at the booth level, a number of presentations of AFRALO’s initiatives and participation in some public sessions. Since it is a summit that brings together capacity building and the development of public policies, I would be watching closely the leaders in order to learn more about the process of building community capacity in management within the ICANN community. Indeed, the purpose of all these actions will be to raise the profile of ICANN, the recruitment of young people and students within the ALS and increased participation of the network in the events of the sub-region. To sum up, participants will come from diverse backgrounds and cultures and enrich the exchange in many ways. Last but not the least, the Dakar summit will be an important moment of discussions, exchanges and validation of the policies on the issues of governance of the Internet related to the African specificities, not letting aside questions on cyber criminality in Africa. | ||||||||||||
