9) Proposed Goals and Outcomes:

Content Guidelines (click here)

Attending ICANN65 to engage with existing and new businesses to encourage engagement with ICANN, especially the BC .  Engagement with the broader community by supporting the Engagement/Outreach Booth ; participating in Fellowship events to position the BC’s commitments to ICANN; reach new prospective participants in ICANN.  conference, interacting with participants interested in the BC. Manage the distribution of BC factsheets/newsletter, and ICANN relevant materials. Collect business cards/sign up for BC Outreach Committee follow-up on site and post ICANN65.  Distribute BC materials at the CSG joint Board discussion; to GAC members, and at the ICANN Engagement booth.

Proposed Outreach Outcome and Goals :

  1. Identify 2-3 new member candidates from the African/MENA participants, including any eligible “ICANN fellows”, but primarily focused on businesses and their associations.
  2. Significantly enhance the visibility of the BC in the region to businesses, their associations, and to governments from the region regarding the BC’s policy priorities.

Businesses will better understand why ICANN matters to business users, and how the BC can help them be effective in ICANN activities and policy development

  1. The BC and ICANN itself have very low visibility in particular with businesses in the MENA states [e.g. N.African and Middle East], even though a few countries – e.g. Egypt; East Africa and West African countries are actively engaging in the GAC and in the ccNSO. Engagement with businesses in Africa/MENA is a unique opportunity for the BC during the ICANN65 and a possible pre event co organized with the ICANN regional team to enhance awareness about ICANN, and the BC’s mission and objectives, including the importance that business places on the overall stability, reliability and resiliency of the Internet, and on universal acceptance.

4. Enhancing and building diversity of membership to include more engagement of business/their associations from the continent/MENA states will enhance diversity of the BC.

10) Additional Information (optional):

ICANN staff and BC Outreach Chair are collaborating on possible pre events in Casablana, as well as a luncheon event for the CSG during ICANN65.  These events are a priority for direct engagement, including personal outreach to businesses in the N.African/MENA states who may attend ICANN for the first time.
