AFRALO Trip Proposal 5

Trip Assessment Form

1) Describe the Trip in sufficient detail
that an interested reader could understand if/how
the original purpose(s) and outcome(s) were
realized (please be as expansive as possible):

My original plan when I made the request for a CROP slot was to participate in the ICANN day by a contribution on one of the AFRALO Hot Topics, and by a presentation about AFRALO to explain the ICANN, At-Large and AFRALO activities to attract more members on the day of the opening ceremony. Unfortunately, ICANN organized its day on 16 June and the opening ceremony took place on 17 June while the policy discussion was held from 18 to 21 June.

Since the CROP travel support covers 3 nights only, I chose to arrive on 18 June to participate in the policy discussion rather than attend update and tutorial sessions (from 9 to 17 June).

So my participation covered contributions in the policy discussion, booth animation with our brochures and banners in 2 languages, and the continuous outreach effort, especially during all breaks to explain the AFRALO, the At-Large and ICANN’s missions and activities and how to join AFRALO.

2) Describe the details of your attendance
and
activities at the meeting (including sessions
attended, written or oral contributions made to
specific sessions, etc.):

Sessions attended:

  • AfNOG Day over the whole day of 18 June
  • AFRINIC Policy Day over the whole day of 19 June
  • AFRINIC AGMM over the whole day of 20 June
  • Update from the 5 Regional Internet Registries and NRO updates, and closing ceremony on 21 June

I made oral contributions in the discussion of the AFRINIC Policies, especially those related to the IPV4 soft landing

3) Explain the specific plans for follow-up activities
to enhance and continue the objectives of the trip for
the community structure through which you were
approved for the trip:
  • On the local level, organize an activity on the implementation of IPV6 in Tunisia as I did last November.
  • On the continental level, update AFRALO on the AFRINIC policies related to the IPV4 soft landing, and help the new applicants for AFRALO membership from those I met in Kampala
4) Please fill out the date when you have completed this form:
