AC Chat Room: 07 August 2012

Berry Cobb:Welecome to the 7 August 2012 IRTP-C Conference Call.

Rob Golding (Othello):I think i brought this up before - you cant do a change of control and an change of registrar at the same time *currently*

  Barbara Knight-RySG:I agree Rob.

Rob Golding (Othello):a domain must transfer with the same whois details (contacts)  between registrars - it's why we all have the horrible "scraping" method for thin-whois

Rob Golding (Othello):if a domain is being hijacked, the hijacker is obviously going to opt out

Rob Golding (Othello):if its a valid change of control the "previous registrant" could use this to lock down a domain

  Rob Golding (Othello):standards ;)

  Simonetta Batteiger:complexity vs. simplicity  ;-)

Simonetta Batteiger:I don't think we'd have an easy time defining exceptions as a list either...

Barbara Knight-RySG:That's good to know Michele.  I would be curious if other registrars also handle registrations/accounts that way.

Roy Dykes -- RySG:so what Michele's saying is that the responsibility is on the registrant for them to register as an individual vs an org

  Roy Dykes -- RySG:correct?

  Michele Neylon:Roy - pretty much

Michele Neylon:Roy - it's in our general terms and conditions

Roy Dykes -- RySG:ok, thanks Michele

Simonetta Batteiger:and that was the point, that you can't define that line

Simonetta Batteiger:might be helpful to go back to the transcript, I think it was about just these fields, but I'm not sure anymore...

Mikey O'Connor:i think it was "real world"

Mikey O'Connor:that's one heck of a sentence!

Simonetta Batteiger:need to drop off at the top of the hour...
